Reviews
"Listen, this was some of the best cat fish I've ever had, and their play on hushpuppies. If you're in Charlotte, the 7th Street Market is the place to visit. Everything was amazing."
"I don't know where all of these great reviews came from for this restaurant because it is absolute TRASH! The catfish is NOT catfish. The collard greens are tough and flavorless and served very sloppy. The pork chop sandwich was a large bone with barely any meat on it and tough and undercooked. The serrol drink is overpriced and bland. And the shrimp & grits were served with old lumpy, stale grits. The shrimps were not fresh. AND they topped it with those disgusting collard greens! I don't know where they got that awful recipe from but it needs to go back to the pits of hell. I spent $85 on this TRASH! I highly recommend going to any of the other places in the market besides this one. I want a refund! Better yet... I will NEVER come here again. This is a TRUE review!"
"Had lunch with the work crew at Jimmy Pearl’s at 7th Street Marketplace. The people working here are super nice and the seafood smelled fantastic. I picked Uncle Gene’s Fish Sandwich with Potato Things. The catch-of-the-day was catfish and the sandwich was crispy-fried to order — so expect to wait a few minutes. The food was really really good. The fish was crisp with great flavor and salt. The pea slaw had great acidity to balance the fried fish. A little hot sauce topped everything very well. The market can get crowded around lunch but calms down after 2:00. Parking is available in the marketplace lot or on the street if you can find a spot. Definitely check this place out if you’re in the mood for fresh, flavorful seafood."
"This food was amazing. We got a crab cake, Uncle Gene's fish sandwich and potato thingies. Crab cake was delicious and perfectly cooked. Just enough binding to hold it together. The fish was cooked perfectly, crispy outside, tender inside and seasoned beautifully. The potato thingies were fried well and seasoned perfectly as well. Highly recommend."
"Ate here for the first time last weekend. Fish sandwich was amazing! Daily catch was catfish, which I’m not big on but I loved it. Hot sauce was perfectly mild (for those like me who like some heat but not hot-hot). Will definitely be back!"
