Reviews
"We had a really nice lunch experience at Walnut Grill. Our group sat in the private dining area. I had the Rigatoni Abruzzi and it was delicious with lots of beef and an ample portion. Our server was attentive and nice. I do plan to come again as they have some drinks including a prickly pear Margarita which is hard to find in this area and they have a nice selection of wines. They do not have dessert on their menu online. All in all a great experience! UPDATED REVIEW 1/1/2024: We went there for their New Year's Eve Menu which was really excellent and very worthwhile. We started with the French Onion Soup which was very cheesy and the onions were very tender. Our main course was the Ribeye with Robust and tasty blue cheese topping, fingerling potatoes and tender asparagus. Dessert was a very delicious bundt cake with toffee topping and vanilla ice cream, all so delicous. We had a great experience on all counts. The service was very good, our waiter (she) was so nice!"
"This was our first visit to Walnut Grill. As Pittsburgh natives, we were so exited to try it, and we weren’t disappointed. The Pittsburgh salad was fabulous. I haven’t found anything close to this since we moved to Charlotte. My husband had the prime rib sandwich. He said it was delicious. We can’t wait to bring our kids here the next time. Our server Jacola was very attentive, and she let me see a copy of their kids menu. Since I wrote this review, we have stopped dining here. The food and service is very inconsistent, and management doesn’t really seem to care. We have spoken to managers while we were there and provided feedback after leaving. One really good experience doesn’t make up for several bad."
"We sropped in here to grab some lunch one day during team meetings at the office. When we walked in, the restaurant looked a little empty. We were a little worried by that. Also, the menu is a bit eclectic and all over the board. That made us a little nervous too. So we ordered and the plates they brought out didn't look especially appealing. Now, we were really starting to think we made a mistake coming here. However, when everyone dug into their meals, we were all pleasantly surprised about how good everything tasted. Based on how our food tasted, we would go back. Service was not bad, no complaints there. However, I couldn't get the QR code to work when it was time to pay the bill, so we flagged our server down and she was happy to go run the card for us."
"We visited Walnut Grill Ballantyne on a Saturday night. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff, who indicated the kitchen was working through some issues and the speed of food might not be up to there desired standards. We were not in a hurry and it would not be an issue for us. Once we were seated our waiter, Christian, was quick to greet us and take our order. He didn’t write anything down, but nailed the order. One of the items he recommended was the fried cauliflower. I think the kids would say it was bussin’, which translated means delicious. Honestly, everyone should order that dish….amazing. We also had two salads, the Strawberry Balsamic and Walnut goat cheese and pear, not the official names on the menu but you will be able to figure out the ones I am talking about. They were so very good. My wife and I took bites of everything and I decided I wanted to take pics to post a review. So the pictures already have at least two bites out of each. The food didn’t take long at all to reach our table. Great food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks for a great evening!"
