"My family has been coming here as long as I can remember! The food is great and we always get served by Tamara who is wonderful. She is very kind and attentive. Everything we order has been delicious but my favorites are the eggs Benedict and anything from the pastry case. We love Purple Onion!"

"The pancakes were huge. The avocado and spinach eggs Benedict were so full of flavor... Highly recommend. Their home fries were crispy without being dry ... Extremely impressed. Their biscuits and gravy were also gigantic and very tasty!"

"So much to say about the Purple Onion in Shallotte, NC! Where else can you so reasonably enjoy a generous slice of homemade from scratch cake like grandma made or oversized muffins or cookies?? As you enter the cafe draws you right in with the warm homey scents of a bakery to look almost drooling at the refrigerated glass cooler and cases filled with tempting sweets?! We would recommend trying anything on the menu— tho we are so happy with our usual order of quesadillas we never get too far in trying anything else! They are very accommodating of food allergies and requests. Try the fresh made potato chips too! The sweet tea is some of the best around—I like it half and half with extra lemon! Do not miss this adorable yummy cafe! It’s such a good value and is just so tasty! There may be lines so go early as they close at 3! Absolutely worth a drive and any wait required. Strongly suggest purchasing baked goods immediately after putting name on list so they aren’t sold out when you finish your meal."

"Stopped for breakfast while driving through Shallotte. Very glad I did It was very busy there, but we were seated quickly. The staff were very friendly and service was great. I had an omlet with sausage gravy on the side. It was all very delicious!! My wife had French toast and eggs Benedict. Very good Highly recommend"
