"I've been very disappointed with this thrift store lately. I purchased an item this past week that was not as expected. It appeared to be a new soft animal carrier. It was in a taped up box and I was in a hurry so I didn't open it. When I got home, I discovered someone had stuffed something else in the box. I can't even figure out what it is. I don't mind donating to a good cause, such as this one, but when I buy something in their store, I expect it to be what it's marked. They should check everything before putting them out on the shelves. Also, as others have noted, prices have been creeping up consistently, which I can understand to a point, but their furniture and dishes have gotten outrageous. I used to be able to get a good deal on things. A few months ago, there was a three-piece entertainment unit that was huge and I really only needed the 2 outside pieces. So, I asked if I could just take those pieces and leave the middle one for them to sell, because it was too big for me to do anything with. The young man, who appears to be the one that prices the furniture, said it would never sell with just the one piece, and that he would not let me buy just the 2. So, instead of making money selling 2 pieces to me, the 3 pieces sat on the floor unsold for months. The worst, which I know the staff can't control, is that resellers line up outside for store opening, rush to their respective areas, and strip the store of all the nicer, low-priced items in about 15 minutes. I wish the staff would hold things in the back, instead of putting them out after closing or before they open, so more things can be put out later in the day, when those of us who just like to enjoy thrift shopping can get some good finds. I used to find a lot of great things, at good prices, but have had little luck lately."
"Very rude female assistant manager and manager Patrick. Have been shopping her for years. They reprice items at their leisure, and for certain customers. They change the rules when they see fit about pricing an item. Patrick was very disrespectful, and allowed his assistant manager to run her mouth to multiple coworkers while I was leaving the store. While attempting to speak with another employee she inserted herself, refused to allow me to ask another employee a question, and called Patrick back up to the front. I will not be back. Wish I hadn’t wasted money here through the years to be treated so poorly for bringing up their store policy, and how it’s not equally distributed between customers."
"It's a very nice thrift store ,supporting a great cause. My late wife loved stopping here whenever we were in town seeing the grandchildren. I haven't stopped at Mountain Home since my wife passed almost two years ago. I was out revisiting our favorite places this week and was having a hopefully discreet grief moment in the store. As I was checking out and trying to escape; a very jovial lady at the register completely distracted me and sang to me. I now have a new fond memory of Mountain Home Thrift and a gently used sweatshirt."
"This store is amazing! This is one of the biggest thrift stores I've been to, and they always have really great stuff that is well organized and clean. The staff is super friendly and the coffee shop inside has really delicious stuff. I love that I can wait for my coffee order by shopping around. They also have really great sales a lot of the time where things are like half off. I also love that it goes towards such a great cause to help the children."
"Extremely Nice thrify store. Visited for the first time with my Mom & Grandmother we all found lots of great deals and I was so impressed with the store, staff and their cause that I started to volunteer. The store is filled with charm and countless items you will have a hard time not finding something you have to buy. Prices are super inexpensive and the proceeds benefit Black Mountain Children's Home, which if you don't know anything about, you need to google it, truly an Amazing organization. Proud to be a part of it."
