Reviews of The Renwick
"This is an amazing hotel. There are many reasons why: 1. Safety- I felt very safe as a single woman in this hotel and in the neighborhood it is located. 2. Comfortable- The room was toasty warm, despite the fact it was 10 degrees. The bed was very, very inviting! Many blankets and pillows. The shower had very hot water. Top of the line products were provided to pamper yourself! The hotel and room very quiet, especially for the weekend. 3. Cleanliness- From the lobby, to the elevator to the hallway to the room every aspect was totally clean. I stayed for a few days, and every day I saw staff working very hard to make sure everything was perfect. 3. Staff - Every staff member that I encountered was welcoming and helpful. I would specifically like to point out Claudia in housekeeping, as well as Val, one of the managers. Claudia cleaned my room each day meticulously. And that is no small feat, because I am sloppy!! Val went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. I have found my home, away from home. From this point on, The Renwick will be my home in NYC."
"We arrived and were greeted by a very friendly individual at the front desk, Judy. We went to our nicely appointed room on the twelfth floor and were confronted with a loud screech from the rooms heater. I made a video recording of it so Judy could advise maintenance. She was gracious and apologized profusely and assigned us to a different room. When we entered that room we immediately knew something was wrong as it was freezing cold. It’s December! The main unit didn’t work and instead there was an unplugged space heater in the corner. Judging by its size it would take hours to heat the rooms. Incidentally both rooms were nice sized. Again we went to see Judy. I showed her a photo of the space heater and again she apologized sincerely and after some searching found a much smaller room and said we could change rooms the next day. The following day we accepted her offer and enjoyed a well appointed room that is until morning three of our stay when in the middle of my shower there was suddenly no hot water. I finished it in the sink with cold water. Today, day four we awoke with absolutely NO hot water in the shower or sink. Thinking the problem might be localized to our room I called the front desk. This time the phone was answered by a clearly not friendly staff member who, when advised of the problem, stated “maintenance is aware of the problem”. When I asked as to when they anticipated it might be fixed I received a very abrupt “no idea”,with not never even a word of apology for any inconvenience. I completely understand that hotels can, like any homeowner, experience issues with heaters….hot water…etc. The issue with the Renwick is how it is addressed and how many problems occur. Clearly the communication between the front desk staff and maintenance staff needs significant improvement. Maintenance should have advised the front desk of the malfunctioning of room heat to avoid the inconvenience of repeated changes of rooms. As we now face a day of no morning shower we can only hope the last day and night of our stay are better. Well. The last day was much better, and as we checked out, they were very apologetic to the point I might give them another chance next Christmas"
"Well appointed hotel. Spotlessly clean. Valet was excellent. The desk staff are surly, argumentative and impolite. Not what you want or expect. There was a building site outside our room and the front desk argued with me as to its existence! Eventually deeming to move us to what was a smaller room with a tiny bathroom! If that wasn’t bad enough on returning from our conference Saturday night a laundry truck was parked in the valet area. I came inside and asked for the valet and was greeted with the same disinterested attitude. In the end one of the cleaning staff talked the laundry driver into cooperating. Seriously, he was so aggressive I was contemplating calling the police! The desk staff couldn’t care less. So each time something went wrong, the building site outside your window, no coffee at 7:40am, the valet parking filled with a truck, they tell you that’s another company and I can’t do anything about that! No matter that you are their guest paying $500 per night!"
"Clean 5 Stars - traveling with a young child. A historic hotel with a distinctive artist touch. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The location cannot be beaten, I can’t highlight this enough. You can visit every major attraction in NYC by just catching a train at Grand Central. We’ve spent 7 nights in one of the larger rooms and it’s perfect for a small family with children. I want to thank the staff at the Renwick for a great stay. We truly enjoyed our vacation here"
"We booked one of their suites. The room was nice in general but there were things missing such as water, soap, bedding, tv remotes, and we had to keep calling for service to replace the items. The ceilings seem to be thin as you can hear people walking every once in a while. The AC stopped working the third day as well and it wasn’t fixed by the time we checked out. Overall, the hotel is nice and in a decent location and the staff were lovely. I only wish the amenities we paid for were ready and fixed"
