"Beautiful State Park. Great hiking with a gorgeous lake view. Also, really fun to take your mountain bike and explore the trails. Lots of people enjoying a picnic, kayaking, grilling, camping, walking around with their dogs (must be leashed). Tons of space for really anything you want to do outdoors!"
"Beautiful state park. Spent Sunday My daughter grilled chicken and pork chops. Very peaceful. Dog friendly. Family oriented."
"Beautiful lake and well kept park and surroundings. Good place to go on a one day picnic. 1. Reach early - If you are planning to go to this place on a weekend, plan to get there early. The place opens at 8. I got there at around 7.50 on a saturday, and by then, there were at least 10 cars in the parking lot. They close down when they reach a capacity and do not allow entry even if you just want to go only on trails. Entry is free. 2. Picnic spots - ample picnic tables available. Nice and shady as well, so you can enjoy the whole day here eating, cooking, swimming and on trails 3. Lake - nice and beautiful. Not very deep and good for kids. Swimming permitted starting 10 am till 5pm 4. Kayaks and boats - they have rentals, but don't do it every day. I think they don't give it for rent on weekends. 5. Trails - there are a bunch of trails. The lake loop is pretty easy without much elevation. Takes around 3 hours to complete the loop with kids. Beware of mosquito attack. There are a lot. 6. Bears - we saw a bear on the lake loop. It was taking the same trail route and ran away as soon as it heard us. I heard other people also had bear experiences. 7. Parking - big space near the lake. There are other two smaller lots also"
"Be aware thaf GPS Directions can take you to a different entrance to the park and that it will take you another 20 minutes to go around to the Main Entrance. For whatever reason, the park did not have the gate open, so had to travel around going into New York and back into New Jersey to get to the main entrance. The roads leading into the park are aweful, full of gravel and pot holes. They are in desperate need of some attention. The Lake that I was swimming in was badly full of weeds everywhere that would wrap around your body. The trails that I did use were very muddy, so make sure you have proper foot wear. But that's to be expected on any trail. Place seemed to be very popular with large crowds present. So they are doing something right. Compared to other parks I have been to and experienced, this is middle of the road."
