"I had absolutely the worst experience with Dr. Brill. Firstly and most importantly I asked her for an STD blood screening test and she found me positive for herpes. Side note — most providers never test herpes by blood if there aren’t physical symptoms like flare ups because it can be very faulty (I learned this later through researching and speaking to doctors and specialists). I told her I had never had an outbreak, my boyfriend never had an outbreak, asked her for additional testing options etc and all she could tell me was to take antiviral medication and live life like I have a herpes diagnosis. I fell into a deep depression, lost a lot of hair, it caused distress in my relationship and I was having suicidal thoughts. I did not give up however and I got in contact with a specialist who referred me to a comprehensive test in Washington state for herpes. I was supposed to get help from Dr. Brill to complete this and mail the test in. While she signed some papers for me to request the test, she seemed completely disinterested in helping me further or guiding me through this process as my OB GYN provider. I had issues finding someone who would take my blood so after I begged her to we attempted to do it in her office. After already taking my blood she discovered it wouldn’t fit in the centrifuge but told me it could still be possible to mail it in. However, the sample was rejected, which cost me 300$ in overnight shipping fees. Once this failed she told me I should fly to Washington state and get the test done there (we live in New York). She also asked me if me and my boyfriend had broken up since we last tried to speak to her about my herpes diagnosis (we hadn’t but it was so presumptuous and strange). Anyway i submitted the test without her help at a northwell health blood draw location and surprise surprise 1,000$ in testing later i am herpes negative. When she received this paperwork that i am negative for herpes she seemed completely indifferent like it didn’t matter if i lived or died. Truly she could imagine the kind of google review i would leave or along those lines. No one from her office ever called me again even though I was supposed to have follow up appointments for multiple other things she was treating me for… not like I would ever go back though. Stay away from her at all costs she seems to only have luck with pregnant women not a general OB GYN I was shocked about the lack of care and expertise and follow up."
