"My dog has been on medication for allergies for years. I take him for his annual every year. It’s been six months and when I went for a refill they wanted me to see the Vet in order to get the refill med. I explained that I did not have the money to see the Vet and pay for the medication that cost 90+ . So they tell me he needs blood work to make sure the medication hasn’t affected his organs. If the Vet thought it was necessary to do blood work they would have requested to draw blood and didn’t two years in a row. My dog is healthy and all was normal in July’s annual but the head tech insisted he needed blood work in order to get a refill for medication he has been on for 8 years. The cost for just blood work alone ranged from 250 to 350 plus the medication90+. I told her I didn’t have money to do all that. I asked to speak to a Vet or the head person and the respond was that they are transitioning and there was no one I could speak to but the head tech. Yet, there was someone seeings clients. The head tech was being told the prices and info from one of the receptionist so she must be part of the new transition. If a dog is diabetic or has heart problems or has been sick yes then they should be checked and have blood work done. But for allergy pills and the dog is healthy its unnecessary. My conclusion, they just want the money and are not focusing on the dog’s best interest cause without my dogs medication the itching is really bad. Do you think she tried to help or speak to the person seeing clients. No Way. I left and don’t plan to take my dog back to them. I never liked that each time you go it’s a different Vet."
"Called to get a rough idea of what a dental cleaning would cost for my cat before putting him in a carrier and taking him across town for an initial exam (somewhat stressful experience for cat) and the receptionist was very combative with not giving upper bound pricing details out over the phone. I understand these things are hard to quote but the receptionist could have communicated a lot better. I was interested in coming here but this interaction left such a bad taste in my mouth."
"Once their main Dr. Doctor Oz and Nina left I left. I signed up for insurance for my pet there a year ago and the company doesnt have a way to be contacted to cancel. Nor is Village vet returning my voice mails or emails about canceling. So if youre to go to this vet DO NOT sign up for insurance. I am battling this since July...still being charged monthly."
"I've been very happy here. Took my last dog well past his estimated lifespan, and now a few visits into my current one. Both big bruiser mastiffs. I think the most important factor is their flexibility to owner decisions. We all want the best of course, but there are financial limits for many, and all veterinary care in the city is pricy. They will guide you to the best decision without predjudice."
"I have been going to Village Vet for years. When My Missy was sick, they were great and when her time came Dr. Murphy was an angel. They have been taking care of Tiny Girl since she came and have been thorough and upfront. Never trying to have me take any un-necessary procedures. They are a neighborhood institution, and I am quite happy with them, through two dogs, and a number of years."
