"It took H&R Block 5 different accountants over 3 months to finish my taxes. They did not bother to file for extension and kept forgetting to do work. They are the worst!"

"Beginning in November 2022, I retained H&R Block to amend my 2020 and 2021 federal and state tax returns. Initially, I went in person to their Hudson Mall location in NJ. I brought all of the necessary paperwork and forms and work was started. I did not hear back until March of 2023 and when I did they were upset with me for apparently not responding to messages I never received. On my first visit back we worked on my federal returns. Throughout the visit, I constantly had to point out errors and help the technician work through my problems. At the end of the visit, I had to point out that state returns would be needed to the surprise of the tax "professional." I returned for another visit where my returns were not finished and I had to guide the woman assisting me through the various pages and point out errors that she had made which were affecting my tax return. At the end of the visit, there was still significant work needed to be done. I tried to connect to get my finished tax returns and had multiple issues coordinating times and having the staff member put unsolicited times on my calendar which we had not discussed and then getting upset when I did not show up. Eventually I just asked to have my return emailed to me instead. This was another nightmare as the staff member got upset with me for not receiving the email even though I assured her that I had checked every folder and was trying to work out a solution for myself. Eventually I just had to drive to pick up the files but when I went to send them in my name was spelled wrong, my address was wrong, there was an error in the tax calculation worth $1000, and I had to redo all of the forms myself just to be able to submit them. On top of all of this, the HR Block software for this current year has been horrendous and won't allow me to submit state returns that are clearly fileable as well as other errors that have made my experience with the company one that will keep me away for a very long time."

"Customer service is trashy here. This was my first time with H&R block and probably they convinced me to turn away. Did not uphold appointment time and I waited 45mins and 2 follow ups. They then place blame on the client instead of apologising. An appointment booked is confirmed until cancelled! Unprofessional behaviour."
