"To say I’m disgusted is an understatement. The way my poor Cocoa and I were treated here today is unacceptable. My bunny was dying gasping for air. I brought her here to be put down so she wouldn’t suffer. I got there and asked if they could please get the Vet a soon as possible. She was laying on a towel in the room getting worse by the minute. Someone came in the room and said very coldly “You must take care of payment first “ My fiancé immediately noticed how cold and rude that was. Fifteen minutes pass by and I hear the Vet and assistant talking outside the door. No urgency and not helping another pet. I knocked on the door and said “Please help my bunny she’s dying cannot breathe “ I was ready to be with her in her last moments. I have always been allowed to be with my pet till the end and present for the needle . This Vet which I don’t know her name yet but I will, says “give me her to me then”. I was hesitant. I wrapped her in the towel gingerly as she was in a fragile state. She then proceeded to snatch my baby away from me with a nasty attitude. The bunnies neck literally limp was thrusted side to side. I screamed what’s wrong with you! She said I need to give anesthesia and find a vein. You can’t go with her. I took my bunny back so fast and ran back to the room. She then took her last gasp of air and died with me rubbing her ears. I’m so happy I was able to have that last moment with her instead of dying with a Vet who obviously has no empathy. This should never be allowed in an Animal Hospital. It’s so hard to go through the loss of a pet and to deal with something like this is heartbreaking. Shame on you Oakland Animal Hospital for treating anyone like this!"
"Very happy to be back at OAH and cannot say enough good things. Dr. Pellicano changed my 13 year old dog's (Gracie's) life. Gracie started with seizures a little over a year ago but hadn't been well controlled. Since seeing Dr. Pellicano, we now know that in addition to the seizures, Gracie also had high cholesterol/triglycerides and very low thyroid function (which could contribute to abnormal neurologic activity/seizures). She now has better seizure control after adding additional medications, and since changing her diet and adding thyroid medication, she has more life and spunk in her than she has had in a very long time. So grateful to have my dog back! Big thanks to Dr. Pellicano and the OAH staff!"
"All of the times I’ve called this hospital the receptionist has a condescending attitude. They overcharge for all their services. I’m not sure how much the well visit is for other animals but I have a Bunny and was charged $140 for a well visit and the doctor couldn’t even do the full examination because my Bunny was too stressed. Don’t come here."
"Dr. Amy is very caring and very professional. She was great during the difficult time I had to go through with my 18yr old beloved cat. Losing my Tili was a pain I was not ready for and Dr Amy and her Amazing staff were very compassionate and helpful. Thank you Oakland hospitality. I would highly recommend it to family and friends."
"I had never been to Oakland Animal Hospital before but called them one morning when our Guinea pig was about to die. We didn’t want her to suffer anymore. The vet was only going to be there for a few hours that day but they squeezed us in, welcomed us with open arms (last minute), & allowed us to take our sick Guinea pig in to be euthanized. The staff was so kind and compassionate to me and my son. A week later, we received a lovely, hand written card from the office offering their condolences. We had a really wonderful experience given the circumstances. Thank you Oakland Animal Hospital!"
