"The line was crazy when we arrived around 1pm on a Saturday, but it moves very fast especially if you have a small party. The food on the carts is fresh and hot and they go around all the time. All the dumplings were delicious and the price was reasonable (for 2 ppl I paid $40 with tip) Overall the place is frantic, loud and seems disorganized, but somehow they make it work. You end up sitting with strangers but the food is worth it. If you prefer calmer environment, come after 2pm."
"House of Joy has a wide selection of tasty dim sum. Come hungry so you can sample a lot. The prices are quite reasonable; the total for 9 dishes was $66. Of those 9, my favorites were the salt-and-pepper squid, the steamed Chinese broccoli, the stuffed eggplant and the shumai. The interior here is nicer than in some of the other dim sum places in Chinatown. It is very busy on weekends so best to come early."
"Typical dim sum place. Most staff speak English. Don't skip out on the carts too often because the ladies who push the cart will pretty much ignore you for the rest of your meal. Took us some time to flag a specific lady down as we wanted to see what was offered before we committed to too much food. Food was overall not bad. Great service though."
"A nice dim sum restaurant in Chinatown. Customers can have dim sum all day here. However we went for nice dining here today. The food is pretty good and delicious, and we enjoyed a happy time together."
"Dim sum at House of Joy was not just a meal; it was a fun and interactive experience! Different carts circulate, offering a tempting array of delectable options. Choosing from these carts added an exciting element to the meal, allowing us to select what looked most delicious. The pricing was surprisingly reasonable for the quality and variety offered. The scallion dumplings were a favorite, as well as the bean curd and shrimp rice rolls - the charm of the dim sum carts made the dining experience truly memorable. A delightful journey through flavors at a wallet-friendly cost – House of Joy is a must-visit for dim sum enthusiasts in NYC!"
