"A new ownership group that deals with rent controlled and lower income houses has bought the property. They are making cosmetic changes to hide the fact they fired all outside service vendors. There are mice and bugs not treated. Cleaning of public places reduced or eliminated. Many support services eliminated. Tenants met with management in a hostile meeting. Rents are increasing and will continue to increase after each lease expires by 40-70% or more. So many people are moving out. It's a shame, because it was an elegant building. Stay away!!"
""Freeze and Roast." (No A/C at all). I would recommend you stay away from One East River Place. We had a hot spell about two weeks ago and management refused to turn on the air conditioning. Subsequently, temperatures dropped to the 40s and 50s. Guess what -- no heat either. Who benefits from this strategy? The management. Rents are high and fixed. Profit is raised because no need to provide for Central AC. Additionally, you frequently turn on the water and the water comes out brown for a few minutes before it turns clear indicating piping issues. While this is a luxury building, recommend you be very cautious before moving here. There is much better value out there and where management is much more sensitive to satisfying the renters/customers. This management only is concerned about short term return on investment."
"Welcome to the "Inferno" (One East River Place). We have had a series of 70-80 degree days this year (April) and the management refuses to turn on the air conditioning. Calls to the management office -- no response. Have walked into other buildings near by - the air conditioning for the residents is on. I live on a very high floor and the equivalent temperature in my apartment is over 90 degrees. Opening the windows barely helps. Have not slept on several nights. There are some positives to the building in terms of having a gym, driveway, and nice floor to ceiling set-up in the apartments. However, the new management here (building changed hands this year) is "profit" first and foremost not customer focused. Read all reviews carefully and unless you hear about real management changes for the positive -- stay away."
"For the money it’s not a great building, for the same rent you could do a lot better in other parts of the city. Several issues including slow elevators (often 1 is broken), broken/malfunctions appliances that take forever to get fix or perpetually breaking down. AC unit is an absolute joke and trying to cool your apartment in the summer is a nightmare! Food deliveries take 20+ minutes to arrive at your door (great for security that they don’t allow a million delivery drivers in and the porters deliver the food to you, but bad if you want hot food). And of course way overpriced. Management is incompetent. Overall would not recommend"
"For the prices that they charge; the quality of the building, floors, and their services are subpar. The inconvenience of the ongoing construction has gone on for too long."
