"I lived July 10-August 15, 2021 (312 Oak St.). I had originally planned to live one year, but there was a serious health hazard that I discovered after i moved in. After long research, I figured that the apartment is “un-inhabitable” at least at my emotional level. I was so uncomfortable that I had to sleep somewhere else every night. By law, home should be free of harm of health, comfort or safety. Thinking of how I could be exposed to health hazards, I rather wasted money. I requested Gabriel Minsky to fix the issue, but he refused to address my complaints. Out of desperation, i asked (begged) him to move me to a different unit, knowing that there is a vacant unit. He still did not respond until after I begged several times. He later said that he could move me only when I brought someone who would take over my current lease. With an agent’s help, a new tenant (poor tenant! S/he would not know this health hazard) was scheduled to move in on Aug 15. Gabriel said that I had to physically move out of the apartment one week before Aug 15, although I paid the rent until Aug 15. It did not make sense, but I conformed. Moving twice in a month was extremely stressful and costly. However, I took this option over harming my health. I paid $2250 as a security deposit, which I expected him to return a couple of weeks after my move-out. I waited, waited. He did not send the deposit. I emailed him a few times. More than one month passed after I moved out, the deposit came, but I was shocked -- it was only $300+! I moved out earlier than the termination day of my lease. The whole incident turned out to be a legal matter, because it cost nearly $7000 (broker fee, rent, and deposit), let alone emotional cost. I am in preparation to legal complaints for 1) not addressing the health hazard and “forcing” me to move out, 2) not returning the deposit in time, 3) withholding the deposit $ with no itemized list provided."
