"I have been hospitalized 8 times as an adolescent, 3 of which have been at Summit Oaks. (And that is how it will remain.) I arrived feeling hopeless, afraid, and so angry at myself. I didn’t say a word. I came with a red expo marker and a few pieces of paper to write on. After years of treatment, my re-hospitalization left me wondering why I even bothered. I was discharged today, and I’d like to give all of you a piece of my mind. This place sucked…except for Ms. Vanessa. I’m kidding. I loved most of the staff this time around. Most of them don’t deserve the disrespect we showed them, though I understand that trusting adults can be difficult for some kids. I loved Mr. Ralph, Ms. Jess (all 3), Ms. AJ, Ms. Maddie, and the nurse whose eye was bleeding for 3+ hours, along with many more. Thank you for trying your best, and letting me talk your ears off. Anyway, back to Ms. Vanessa, who inspired me to write this glowing 3-star review. I really hope she’s reading this, but one can only hope. Ms. Vanessa taught me to prioritize myself again, and made me feel like I mattered. She made sure to make time for us patients, and listened and respected our wishes to the best of her ability. Social work group was so much fun, and my family session wasn’t too bad either. When I was ready, the social workers worked their butts off to get me out of here ASAP. I am never coming back, either. To any patients who are reading this, know that you really get what you put in. It feels impossible, but the groups will only help if you keep pushing at it. Thank you Summit Oaks, I would give you 5 stars but that turkey burger was horrible and your showers suck. Love, Patient J"
"The psych services were okay. Patient morale and connections were very strong and very positive supportive environment. Could be a lot more groups for structure and help/resources. They often run out of supplies for patients which can get redundant and exhausting. The music therapist was rather abrupt and rude. Made me cry. The weekend doctor was curt and rude as well. The doctors don't spend much time with you but overall seemed to listen to my needs. Needs a lot more things to do for patients other than TV and sleep. It was overall an okay place for healing for me. On the other hand the rehab services sucked. Very cliquey amongst the patients, no group morale or support for all patients was supported. The social workers didn't advocate for patients or their needs. Very stingy with supplies. Very small quarters to move around in. Not very conducive or productive for positive recovery."
"Summit Oaks Hospital is the worst facility to have your loved ones admitted to. Their answering service say a professional is waiting for you 24/7, is a lie. When you call to speak with the social worker or the nurse or the dr , no one answers even if you leave multiple voicemails no one calls you back. The employees are not compassionate and they always have a bad attitude. The facility is not even clean. There are a lot of bad reviews about them. They should be closed down by the state"
"DONT SEND YOUR KID HERE. ITS NOT WHAT THEY MAKE IT SEEM. A psychiatrist there told several children that if they cry, they will have to stay longer. If that isn’t bad enough, some staff yell at you when having a panic attack and they won’t even let you talk. So so so noisy at night coming from the staff. There was very few staff that actually did their job in comforting people, mostly it was the kids who had to comfort each other because the staff wouldn’t."
"I just had the most pleasant experience possible detoxing here. The nursing staff is caring even though they are working 12, or 16+ hour shifts. They are so helpful and never act like they are above you or like you are bothering them. So big thank you to my Dr. Bebe, the nursing manager Carrie, and the best nursing staff I've ever encountered Darrius, Nicole, Hannah, Karine, Jessica and if I didn't mention you by name I apologize. Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart. You made a difference with me and I'll never forget it!!!"
