"There are some great and caring teachers at the school who will absolutely take care of your children. They invest time, energy, and compassion towards kids but there are some thing that are out of their control. Sadly, my 5y/o son's bentobox n lunchbag was stolen on his first day of school despite having his name is both. It was never returned and the principal, teach, and staff doesn't care at all to help the situation. Another boy actually went into my sons backpack on another occasion and took his lunchbag out of his bag but his teacher seemed to not believe me but she has made a very bug effort to ensure certain situations do not arise. Some staff members aren't necessarily the most polite towards parents but they do care for the children."
"This school is not somewhere you want your child to go too, the students there are disrespectful and they treat others badly and no one notices, that's the kind of school this is everyone's supposedly nice until a child breaks down and dosent come to school or maybe won't be seen again because life is hard and the students treat them badly."
"Both my children attend/attended first ave since the beginning and like any other school it has its flaws however, in my opinion First Avenue is the most efficient school Newark has to offer. The teachers are educated, aids are loving, child study team (OT, speech, therapy, psychologist etc) is awesome especially Ms. Elizabeth who guided me with a caring heart throughout the years. Academics reach New Jersey standards which is a major and majority of the staff we encountered always been helpful. Spite my daughter having a rough year last year, we were able to do the Necessary and move forwarded with the support of the staff/family/NPD. Would I recommend the school first ave school, absolutely!!!"
"an actual review is, as a student upstairs(where 3rd grade & up classrooms are) students have been changed to bathroom breaks at 2 specific times every day because of kids drawing on stalls and trashing the bathrooms."
"I wish I could give zero but unfortunately. When you ask to see principal you must fill out appointment slip they never get back to you though because he is never there. The teachers are rude most of the focus is on raising money for school and not education. Teachers make parents feel uncomfortable and are very disrespectful and when approached about behavior principal say give one more chance. WORST SCHOOL BY FAR"
