"It’s really amazing that this is a hospital. It much more resembles a McDonald’s drive-through where no one knows what’s going on and no one cares. Huge delays in patients being seen, no communication, and absolutely no coherent structure for the intake of patients. If I were the hospital administrator, I would be ashamed of the quality of service. It’s also so disappointing that repeated reviews like this one (take note of all the one star reviews) will do nothing to inform the opinion of Main Line Health about this hospital. If you’re reading this review, do yourself a huge favor and go to Bryn Mawr Hospital or pretty much any other hospital in Delaware County - because it will likely be a much better experience. If I could negative stars, I would."
"Finally writing a review that was meant to be written in 2021-2022. When i first checked the reviews of this place as i was en route to this hospital, i found a review that said someone’s daughter came here to be checked for pneumonia, only for the staff to miss the pneumonia and for her to land in another ER days later. Welp, i knew in my gut that the same would happen to me. And it did. For context, i was peak health, a 23 year old woman who was a very fit athlete. I was bed ridden for about a week in early december 2021 with severe, extreme stabbing chest pains to the point i couldn’t walk normally and could only sleep in 1 position. I finally caved and decided it was time to go to the ER when my temperature reached 105, yes i repeat, 105 degrees F on my thermometer. Long story short, we sat waiting in this ER for 11 hours straight, listening to the moaning and throwing up of patients in pain as the desk staff giggled and ignored everyone who was suffering (i understand it’s their job and they see it a lot, but it was traumatizing to see and experience.) 11 hours later (covid times… i guess….) they finally took me in. Long story short, they took an X ray, i was told by the ER doctor that my thermometer must be broken/is of the wrong type, and told me “you just need to rest up and hydrate. You’re fine”. I come home. Days later i am rushed to the emergency room to wilmington DE christiana hospital via an ambulance due to severe full body shocking nerve pains. Christiana hospital took an X ray, and a CT scan. It turns out i had a blood clot inside of my lung (pulmonary embolism caused by my birth control pill) and a specialist caught that i had pneumonia in my lungs. Later, they discovered i had a rare form of pneumonia called acute necrotizing pneumonia (strep anginosus pneumonia). One of my lungs fully filled up with infection (within 24 hrs) to the point where i needed two chest tubes to drain my infection. I came close to death. I became the sickest person in the ICU stepdown for 16 grueling, traumatizing days of my young, healthy, 5’0 ft tall 125 lb. life. I had to spend the next 3 months isolated in my home recovering with a picc line to administer my IV antibiotic, and i had dropped weight to about 98 lbs and lost all of my muscle. Anyways. Don’t go to riddle if you want help, or to survive. My blood clot could have broken off any time from my lung and killed me any time after they sent me home until i finally went to christiana, and my severe pneumonia was obviously brewing. They didn’t take me and my symptoms seriously, and i’m tired of the medical field not taking women seriously to begin with. I hope this helps to guide someone away from here to find real, high quality help faster."
"Went here 2 times for visits for a tonsillectomy. The staff were friendly, professional, efficient and well trained. They were experienced and seemed to genuinely care about my wellbeing. I was extremely impressed with all of them from the front desk to the nurses and the staff who escorted me to my car in a wheelchair chair. Never expected to have such a great healthcare experience I got an email and phone call before surgery breaking down the financial cost. There was an error saying I’d have to pay about $100 copay. I called my insurance when I got the email to verify if this was accurate. Then the hospital staff called me and I explained I’d talked to my insurance and they said I had a $0 copay and no deductible. The hospital was understanding and resolved the issue so when I arrived day of surgery I did not pay anything. I legit left the hospital thinking if I ever have to go back to a hospital I hope it’s this one"
"Unethical - financial games and slight of hand - patients be aware! The hospital called and provided a cost estimate prior to my schedule procedure; the estimate showed my total responsibility as well as the portion covered by insurance. I have a high deductible plan so my portion was not insignificant. At check in, I was pressured to pay the full amount not covered by insurance even though there was no obligation to do so. I ultimately agreed to pay one third of my portion however the staff member completing the check in charged the full amount to my card and called it a "system error" and stated that it couldn't be reversed. The nursers and doctor were great and the procedure went smoothly. While I was dismayed that the hospital charged my credit card without authorization, I decided to let it go as I was happy with the outcome and intended to pay the bill in full. Fast forward several weeks later, I received a second bill bringing the total cost of the procedure to an amount that was 28% higher than the estimate. How could the hospital have been so wrong on a routine procedure? After countless phone calls over two weeks I was finally told that the estimate didn't include the doctor's fees! Amazing, they gave me a price for a procedure that somehow didn't include the cost of the person performing the procedure. No other industry in the USA is able to get away with this type of unethical behavior. One star."
"Our experience was positive. Everyone treated us with respect. The nurse's treating my fiance were very polite and knowledgeable, every doctor the same. They also helped educate us for future care routine. We must've gotten there at a good time because even the ER wait wasn't very long. He was in the pavilion which is very nice. No complaints other than having to be in the hospital. even the cafe food was good"
