Greater Bergen Community Action Head Start

Greater Bergen Community Action Head Start is a school located at 503 Garfield Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. Our institution offers a research-based curriculum that aligns with NJ State licensing standards, teaching children everything from letters and numbers to social skills. We celebrate diversity and have a multilingual environment that includes children and families from various cultural backgrounds.

Our students enjoy delicious and nutritious meals prepared by our in-house registered dietitians, with specialized menus available for those with dietary restrictions. We welcome children with disabilities and work with parents, teachers, and specialists to create individualized programs both in the classroom and at home.

All Head Start students receive free health screenings within the first 45 days of the program, and are referred to high-quality health services in their communities. Each family is assigned a family worker to create a Family Partnership Plan, helping them identify and achieve life goals.

Our program provides free early childhood education and family services to low-income families in Bergen County, Jersey City, and Paterson, NJ. We aim to prepare children for kindergarten, enhance their well-being, and promote stable family relationships.
