Reviews of National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene
"I missed the first Houer of Fiddler on the Roof, because i went to the Folksbiene instead of New World Stages. As non New-Yorker i trusted google maps. Just to figure out that only the office of fiddler on the roof is here. -.- The people were very nice tho there, hope to visit it next time under more happy circumstances."
"Came here for the new show “harmony” such a powerful musical, not just funny and great vocal. But the story behind the famous German boy group Harmony. The show deserves in a bigger stage in Broadway for more people to see. The stage is a bit forward so if you are not in center orchestra seat then don’t get the font row seats especially on the left side. On the left side best to buy from 4 or 5 rows back. Any of the center orchestra is fine even rear center orchestra."
"My husband and I went to see the previews of a new musical called "Harmony," written by Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman. Harmony is a MUST SEE musical. We were blown away by the music, the story, the acting, and the singing!! We had such an amazing evening that we will be back in a few weeks to see it again and again and again!!!!"
"Last week I attended the National Yiddish Theatre--Folksbiene in downtown Manhattan for the first time, to see the Yiddish-language production of "Fiddler on the Roof." I didn't quite know what to expect: I don't speak Yiddish, and while my German is better than none, it isn't enough to carry me through a theatrical performance. Let me say that I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, the acting and singing were good. Not just good for ethnic theater, but just plain good. Also the use of supertitles worked well. It's never a perfect setting, but I was able to follow the action on stage without much distraction. The theater itself is also a nice physical space, and the sightlines to the stage are quite good."
"Saw Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish here. Fantastic performance!!! Incredible actors, and highly moving performance. Perfect sized theater with good slope and seats. The cafe has excellent food, just be prepared to be patient if you go around a show time, best to leave yourself quite a bit of extra time."
