"I don’t appreciate the idea of staying at a shelter being a paying customer. I feel that if Marriott wants to be a shelter, that’s great, but notify paying guests of the situation there especially in the app prior to booking. Since becoming a migrant shelter, the photos posted from years prior should be removed by the hotel and they should post current updated photos of broken/boarded windows, leaking entryways, broken doorframes and bugs running rampant. This is a disgrace for anyone actually paying several hundred dollars per night to stay somewhere that they weren’t given the scope of the current situation of the hotel. Marriott, please do better and remove old pictures and any reviews prior to the shelter being in place."
"Hotel is very dirty. When we walked in, there were buckets catching water. There were military men in full uniform guarding the hotel since they seem to be housing migrants. We weren’t told that going in, which is very concerning considering the current unrest in the area. The room had blood on the carpet, and bugs climbing on the bed. AC unit was loud to the point we couldn’t sleep. Our door had to be hip checked in order to close completely. The neighborhood in general does not seem safe. Staff was very nice, but honestly, that’s just not enough to cover for the horrible condition."
"This is the second time we're putting in a review. Our first review by my wife was taken down after a week along with 4 - 5 other similar negative reviews. We stayed at the hotel earlier this month for one night. The following are what we found: Cockroaches everywhere (see pictures below), unfinished walls with hanging hooks but no pictures, bowed door frame that made it very difficult to shut the door, no trash can anywhere (we were told there was a "trashcan shortage" and were given a big trash bag instead), non-functional TV, and moldy caulking in the bathroom. We learned afterward that the hotel is used to house immigrants. The management only recently opened up the top half of the building to paying customers. Floors 9th and below are still used as shelter. That's why there is a National Guard person at the lobby all the time. We called Mariotte to complain but the customer service was not helpful. They argued that the hotel has 4-stars reviews. However, those good reviews were before the hotel turned into a shelter. And, we now know that they take down the bad reviews quickly. I won't be surprised if this review is gone in a few days. Hopefully, it stays long enough to save few people from unknowingly venture there. The staff, on the other hand, was nice and tried to help. The manager did refund us fully in the morning."
"Photos are a lie! This place is nothing like what it shows, it is dirty and smelly and dated. First of all this is a migrant hotel, which they don't tell you anywhere on the website or in the building. They have military people sitting guard at the front desk and roaming the hallways. We called down to the front desk to tell them there is blood stains on floor (3ftx4ft long) and they said a lot of the rooms have those. The price of the hotel after taxes was close to $400 per night. We called Marriott to tell them about our experience and how displeased we were and Debbie (Manager at Marriott) said it was our choice to stay there and we asked to speak to her boss and she hung up on us called back in and was hung up on a 2nd time. Not the standard of hotel Marriott usually goes with. Stay away, go anywhere else. This place is sketchy and unsafe and Marriott doesn't care one bit. Also Marriott Debbie implied because my wife is women she is overreacting and the hotel isn't that bad. As a man I can tell you it was bad and scary as hell."
"I stayed here by accident after a flight cancellation. It took more than 30 minutes to check in. I was greeted at the front door by a cockroach the size of a small dog and people in military fatigues. Air conditioning didn’t work and I found out that the first 7 floors are housing homeless people, which is why the national guard was here. Not at all what I expected and I do not recommend."
