Rella's Spielhaus

"The programming of the school is creative/thoughtful and the exposure to a second language priceless. I am a non-German speaker and I am happy to have our son at Rella's Spielhaus. There have been no issues with his English language development and he understands me when we speak. His German is coming along nicely. I am happy when he tries to teach me German words. The school has a wonderful music program and our son is constantly singing. The teachers are kind and caring. It is also in a great location next to the subway, bus stops, and central park."

"This is a fantastically-run program, with a staff that so clearly prioritizes child safety and development. I cannot speak highly enough about every aspect of my experience here. We get thorough daily as well as weekly reports, both pictures and written content, that provide parents a great sense of how their children spend the day here. Rella's is also exceedingly accommodating in that all of these reports can be in English for those parents that need it. We have no native German speakers in our house, and at no point have I ever felt out of touch or uninformed as to what is happening during the day. This is an outstanding program that is not in any way limited to German-speaking families. Most importantly, my child sprints into Rella's every day, so excited to spend another day here. I could not ask for more. If you are considering any daycare program in the area, I would strongly encourage Rella's."

"Our son is at Rella’s and he started full-time (Monday to Friday) when he was 8 months old. Our daughter will also start at Rella’s soon. We are a German-speaking household but still felt the need for our kids to be exposed to a German-speaking environment during the day. From the minute we entered Rella’s during one of the open house days, we knew that we wanted our son to go to Rella’s. We were debating between daycare and nanny, and for us personally the benefits of him going to Rella’s far outweighed the advantages of having a nanny. The classroom teachers are all native German speakers and are very motivated, talented, kind, and caring! It’s such a nurturing and loving community with arts, crafts, messy/sensory play and music classes integrated into daily activities. The kids nap together, snack together and no matter how warm or cold it is, the kids go to Central Park every day – not just to the playground but also explore the hidden corners of the park. You will receive a weekly round-up email with pictures that really enables you to recap with your child each week’s activities. In addition, the classroom teacher will also send a few pictures (including sleeping, diaper and feeding log) and a short summary message at the end of each day. At Rella’s, each individual child and its needs are taken care of and it is not a factory where you feel your child is simply a number or part of a big educational chain in NYC. Every day, our son can’t wait to leave the house in the morning and is so excited to play with all his friends. And as parents, we look forward to the drop off/pick-ups catching up with other parents. Rella’s really has become part of our NY family."
