"Despite its extremely east side inconvenient location. It is a very nice authentic Japanese restaurant that runs by real Japanese. I gave an overall 5 stars, but a 3 stars rating on its atmosphere due to its authentic greasy Japanese restaurant scent, which is a mixture of sushi vinegar and deep fried grease."
"Been to Kaoru several times now. Our favorite part about Kaoru is the incredibly fresh sashimi and uni. I’m very picky about salmon sashimi, at Kaoru, the salmon sashimi is smooth and silky texture with a clean, delicate flavor. I rarely order it, but at Kaoru, I order the salmon every time. The karaage is also awesome and worth ordering. My only complaint is that the exhaust system can’t always keep up with the deep fryer. It doesn’t stop us, we keep going back, it’s definitely worth it. Highly recommend the bowls- add that amazing otoro, you deserve it!"
"Decent Japanese restaurant with reasonably priced basic Japanese dishes like sashimi Don (bowls) and fried stripe bass with rice set. The atmosphere is also pleasant. However, as the restaurant is not big and seats are limited, you will feel rushed/pressured to leave the restaurant right after you finish eating (or about to finish). Overall, an okay place to visit when you crave Japanese food. Beware though - the menu selection isn't that large and you won't be able to stay long after you finish eating."
"The food here is decent. The king salmon don is quite good. The 3 amigos is fine. The quality of the sashimi assortment is ok. To me, the restaurant is where you’d head to on a weeknight when you just need a neighborhood sushi restaurant for a quick dinner. There is no atmosphere, and the service is minimal although they do bring you the food quickly."
"This is probably the most authentic Japanese place I’ve been to for sashimi. So fresh. Rolls are fresh as well. Their eel is amazing, absolutely the best I’ve ever had. However, it is $30 a bowl, so it’s quite expensive, but it is worth it. I recommended it. Three amigos is a great dish. I think people should give it a try."
