"We went to dinner hungry for ramen after a day in the Christmas city and found a gem! How lucky that we turn on 76 street, as we have now discovered what will surely be our favorite Japanese restaurant. There are fancier places, I’m sure, but the prices here are gentle and the atmosphere is cozy. It reminded me of all the lovely UWS restaurants that closed in favor of more flashy and expensive joints. And the ramen- it’s just fabulous; I had the Shoyu, and the broth was so rich and complex, the pork used was just awesome, melt in your mouth good and a lot of it, the sushi bar has so much to explore and the bento boxes, which you can basically construct to your taste, can get you a complete meal for $25. I can’t wait to return. Did I mention that the waiters are kind and patient, and the other customers are cheerful and pleasant, and the wooden decor is charming and comfortable? Just a great restaurant, really great!"
"Fine place to get all sorts of Japanese food. I've stuck to just the basic sushi and I've had several rolls from here. Everything has been fresh, properly dressed, and as expected from such a place in NYC. I would say I think I'd take the cut rolls over the handrolls going forward. Nothing wrong with their preparation, but its easier to eat in the cut format. -Honey Roasted Peanut Avocado Roll -cucumber roll -Philadelphia Hand Roll -California Tempura Roll -Spicy Scallop Roll -Crazy roll (tuna , salmon, yellowtail , avocado seaweed outside) The edamame is also fine, but its hard to mess that up. I will have to try the Ramen as the weather cools down."
"This place has the best miso soup I've ever had! The sushi was great, and the katsudon was DELICIOUS. Service was friendly, and I went between 9 & 10 pm, so it was very quiet."
"I lived in Hawaii for over 5 years and I have to say that this is by far the closest affordable sushi in terms of quality to what I had available to me out there. The best in the area. The millionaire roll and Shrek roll were my favorites and the sashimi is tough to beat for the price!"
"I've been to both this location and the other location on UWS (if they're the same) and enjoyed both my experiences. The food was good and the portions were pretty large. I think the service was okay, not stellar but I would still say definitely above average for NYC. The prices are more than reasonable for the amount of food you get and tasty."
