Harlan quickly got licensed and began selling homeowners insurance to his real estate clients, eventually becoming appointed to write for The Hartford Insurance Company.
After the passing of Floyd Allen, Harlan became the sole owner of the business and continued to grow both the insurance and real estate sides of the agency. In the 1960s, Harlan's son Frederick joined the business, followed by his grandsons Peter and Jeffrey, who have helped the agency expand and serve thousands of New Jersey residents and businesses.
