"I celebrated my birthday at Frenchette with my Dad last week. The ambiance is nice, casual, busy without being too loud. The menu is interesting--a little different from your typical French bistro menu, and definitely requires Google to help figure out what some of the dishes are. I had a really nice glass wine to start and we shared the jambon starter. It was very nice and unique, even though it's really just a plate of spiced french ham. It has a cheese grated on top that added interest to the dish without overpowering the ham. Bread for the table would have been a nice addition, and somewhat expected at an expensive restaurant. For my main, I had the steak au poivre. The steak was cooked well (medium rare), however, was drowning in sauce. The au poivre sauce was much richer, darker in color and concentrated flavor than a typical au poivre. It was also quite salty. I found myself trying to dab the sauce off of the steak. The frites were amazingly crispy, but they too were overly salty. I ate about half of the dish before having to stop due to the saltiness overall. For dessert, I got Brest a la Pistache. The pastry was light and well flavored and the cream was abundant and substantial (a thick cream). Overall, for the price, I left slightly disappointed and wouldn't rush back."
"We went for the Taste of Things tasting menu. Super fun to go after watching the movie. My partner did the menu ($90) and I ordered the steak au poivre ($58). My steak was delicious and came with a heaping of fries and side of greens. Service was lovely and so was the atmosphere for dinner. It’s on the pricey side so I’m not dying to go back, but would recommend for a date night."
"Definitely can recommend the duck and chocolate mousse. Duck was so crispy ,not oily at all . The mousse is a little rich but so nice and creamy . Definitely gets the job done if you are in a chocolate mood . Very appealing Resturant . They had the ac off when I was there . Would of been nice if they had it on. Was a little warm which made it a tad uncomfortable. It appeared they turned it back on when I was leaving . More people started to arrive. I would come back to try some more things ."
"I was planning to go here for a while and was very excited for experience but was very disappointed with food. We ordered bread that was not that fresh I would expect warm and crispy outside and soft inside. Black sea bass no flavor and duck leg was not fresh either so dry inside. Desert is different story with poor execution. Check is sky high and I left hungry. Only good thing about is service."
"Came for a 12:30pm lunch when it was slow and casual. We were graciously greeted and service was delightful. Attentive yet not overbearing when the opportunity was definitely available. The only mid dish was the salad. It was good-classic greens to get the microbiome ready for the smoked trout(potentially my favorite dish), but lacked pizzazz. The roasted chicken was perfectly cooked and simply seasoned. Probably one of the best I’ve ever had! The pomme purée paired well when slapped on top of each bite, along with a juicy knob of garlic bread that’s soaking at the bottom of the crock underneath the half roast. The cocktail was well balanced and a fresh pet nat was popped for us at the table. If you’re unfamiliar with natural wines, I’d ask for a taste before committing to a glass or bottle. Raspberry and watermelon sorbet was a pleasant palate cleanser. !¡Stay away if you’re price sensitive!¡ I’ll definitely be coming back for dinner service."
