Saltys Beach Bar is really picking up the slack from the closure of the House of Independence and I couldn't be more happy about it. Rock on"

"I unfortunately had the displeasure of attempting to deal with the owner Michelle, who acted in such a disappointing and unprofessional manner. For a well known businesswoman in the area, she truly had zero communication and essentially ghosted me. She had listed a property she owned for rent that I was interested in moving into. Initially she responded to my interest and had the apartment shown to me. I then expressed continued interest in renting the property from her, but let her know since I was coming from out of state, I was looking for a job simultaneously. She offered me a position at her bar, Salty’s and also offered me the house. She started to become less responsive but I chalked it up to it being holiday time. She had her manager start communicating with me, who then set up meetings between the 3 of us, coordinating with me the times I’d be in the area. When I met with her, she did a credit & background check and informed me that I could rent the place in a months time but there would be no lease, as she had her other tenants (3 other small apartments on the property) on a month to month basis & as long as a security check upon move in & rent monthly was paid on time, that’s all that was required. She told me to send my information to her manager & told me I should have the gas/electric etc. put in my name. She then went on vacation for a week & I assumed all was well. As she was returning, I reached out about giving the security deposit & trying to secure a move in date a few days prior to the 1st since I had given my current job & landlords 2 weeks notice. I had been skeptical about not having a lease or anything signed & in writing, but I decided to trust them based on their reputation in town and having some mutual acquaintances. As I began to reach out to both Michelle & her manager, I was left with no answer to calls, texts or even messages left at her business with employees. I started to worry, but tried to put it out of my mind & figured they were very busy and also just returned from vacation. I gave it the better part of a week & reached out once more. Still no response. The manager must have felt bad and answered briefly once or twice, but in a very vague manner. I tried to not be a pest but was starting to become very worried that I wouldn’t have a place to live. I still have received zero response from Michelle, but upon expressing to her manager my concern, he finally responded with a single text apologizing that he had passed on my messages, however had recently become under the impression that the property was no longer for rent but didn’t want to give me the wrong information so advised Michelle to call me back herself which she did not. This has been the only information I’ve had to go on and now am unfortunately scrambling for a place for my dogs & I to live with extremely short notice. It would have still been disappointing, yet understandable for something to have fallen through, especially with no lease, but the lack of communication and common decency to not be informed is what’s most upsetting about this situation and what brought me to write this review. It was a complete disregard for another person’s livelihood & an all around disrespectful & wrong manner in which to treat somebody."

"Great night out, we came out to see this band called Rock Bottom and man they were awesome"

"I love a place that has security at the door that makes me feel safe. Big dudes and maybe baseball bats. Definitely my kind of place! Btw the place is huge! 3 different rooms with stages to have 3 different shows going at the same time. The largest room is set up like a smaller Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. The medium room reminds me of the General Saloon in Old Bridge. The smallest room feels like an unfinished punk rock basement show. Didn't try the food, maybe next time! There is a lot but it's not huge so street parking is available."

"Bartenders are wonderful. They are lovely and helpful. Did feel like they were slightly understaffed for how large a crowd there was. The food was pretty good. Would happily order the chicken fingers and fries again. Blue Cheese Burger was also great. It was cooked well and very tasty. The Mac and cheese was pretty standard and nachos felt a little unbalanced. They were tasty but definitely a little soggy because of the amount of cheese concentrated in one space. Definitely recommend the pulled pork on top as that was killer. Loved karaoke here but it gets very very loud as there were bands playing in the other rooms. The karaoke DJ was well organized and had a great system to keep everyone organized. Wish there was a little more isolation between the rooms so we could better enjoy the room we were in. We were there a Thursday night so not sure how other evening are."
