"My son and I ordered suits for my daughter's Wedding. Fabric selection (Loro Piana), linings, measurements, fittings were exemplary as were the finished products. We looked and felt great which is why you come to MGC. Ordered a couple more for business, never off the rack again.Thank you MGC."
"My husband got his tuxedo here for our wedding. The staff repeatedly dropped the ball. From forgetting to put the shirt order in, to delivering the suit without final tailoring 3 days prior to our wedding. The shirts were not properly fitted and caused chaffing, they refunded us the shirts but there are no use as they don’t fit. The suit was delivered with chalk line and odd brown stains on it. The team apologized but we had to ask for a refund, nothing was offered from the team. We did not see any refunds beyond the shirts that don’t even fit. It was an extremely stressful experience that was not needed prior to our big day. I would not recommend."
"Arrived for my appointment on time and sat in the lobby for an hour without being acknowledged by the staff. Was in full view of the owner of the establishment for the entire time, spoke to him twice asking for someone to help and he said “ok someone will be write there.” Finally left when it was a full hour after the time of the appointment. Very disappointed."
"I bought a suit here once. A customized suit like they promote. I was told it should last me for 10 years. In actuality it lasted 6-7 years. That is in fact about how long other suits have lasted for me, but every suit I had bought before that one had cost me less than half the price. The more expensive suit is reasonably expected to last longer. They are also VERY highly priced compared to other custom suit makers, of which there are now quite a few more than there used to be. MGC has very much "gone Hollywood" in the last decade or so, providing suits for major movies, tv shows, and Broadway productions. It seems this has driven the hubris there sky high! Their one-time salt-of-the-earth ethos is totally gone. If you decide you do want to invest in a customized suit--and remember an off-the-rack suit tailored to personal specifications can be virtually as good for less money--I would urge you to go elsewhere. President Joe Biden forewent getting his inaugural suit from here, even though multiple previous presidents had. Way to go Joe! ADDENDUM: Over on Yelp a reviewer named Mark G. attacked me over my criticism of this place. Check it out: He shows every sign of having been born on 3rd base and acting like he hit a triple! It is actually apropos that someone like that would be a devoted customer of this business: the current proprietors of the place fit that description as well! Based on Mr. G's coarse, arrogant tone, I expect he works on Wall Street. If he does, then he indeed does have an excellent reason to purchase a customized suit, not just a tailored-to-spec suit. There are essentially two groups of people to whom this is an issue: the aforementioned "Streeters," and people who work in the men's garment industry. If you have a personal or professional interest in impressing people among these groups and being in their good favor, it is definitely worth your while to make the additional investment. Whether it is worth it to buy from MGC is another question. They are certainly among the most expensive clothiers, but whether they are still among the best is much less clear, several years into the founder's retirement. There are surely exceptions, but beyond people in those two professions, you are extremely unlikely to be scrutinized to determine if your suit is customized or not. People care exceedingly little about men's clothes in our society--It's a plain truth, which is why the customized men's suit is an expense that is best carefully considered before undertaking."
"It is definitely a luxury to have a custom made suit. The experience of picking the fabric and lining or deciding on custom stitching was totally fun. Martin, Jay and Todd guide you through the process of building your suit. They have made custom clothes for Presidents Eisenhower, Ford, Clinton and Obama. So if you need a suit for any occasion this is the place to go."
