"I was highly upset with my 1st return visit since reopening. I tried to support a local business by deciding to get dinner from here. I ordered rice & beans with beef. The woman poured almost 2 large bowls of rice and beans and literally 3 bones of beef. I spent $21.00 so I had to say something to her about how much rice and bones I received. When I said something the owner told her to add more. She gave me 1 more bone and didn't think she had to add more meat to the other plate as well. When I handed her that plate she got an attitude and put 1 bone in that plate. Walked off and decided to speak her own language to the other employee i knew exactly what she said and it wasn't nice at all. I speak spanish I know she probably didn't think I did. I didn't want to stir any problems on Christmas eve so I grabbed my food and left. Seems like they are very friendly to their own and not everyone that walks into their business. It didn't seem friendly I recognize 1 face from working with Cuban Cafe so I am not sure what the new establishment plans I hope the attitudes are gone soon I would hate for this business to fail again due to not welcoming everyone and being sneaky / cheap."
"Finally! A decent place to get Latin food thats not mexican! Lol. I've enjoyed almost everything I've eaten from this place. Beef stew, chicken stew, chicken soup etc. The rice and beans are great. Plantains are yummy. Even the tres leches cake was awesome. Only thing I didn't like was their Pernil, the portion I got was really mushy and kind of unappetizing, which is sad because the crunchy skin is my favorite part. Other than the Pernil everything else has been great. Definitely worth trying out!"
"This place was a pleasant surprise! They were only open a week when i stopped by but they were on top of everything. The service was good. Lots of smiles and the food was freshly made and sooo good and really inexpensive for the amount if food you get! The black beans were yummy but I went back the very next day for the chicken empanadas!!! We got dine in but took it outside to enjoy, so I had leftovers ready to go. I wish them well and hope they're still open the next time I make it down the shore!"
"This place is a great addition to the neighborhood because most of the Latin options are Mexican and who doesn’t love tacos but this just hits different. The restaurant itself is just great vibes and the location is open and has great lighting and ample seating outside and inside. It’s not a fancy place with table clothes but just a nice, clean and home cooked feel kind of place. The food selection was awesome! Every day they have a different menu so it never a gets repetitive or boring. Everything we ordered was well seasoned and cooked with love. They have great empanadas, releno de papa, chicarron, croquettes if you are looking for a little snack. They have great desserts and also many drink options. They have a fresh juice stand where they press the juice to order and everything is out in the open so you can see what they are doing. The staff was so cool and all had smiles and welcomed us. The portions are great and you will not be left hungry. Looking forward to eating here again."
"It was a sad day seeing the Cuban Cafe close as it had been my go to restaurant for Latin American food in Monmouth County. Given this, I was highly anticipating what the new Latin Diner would bring. I stopped by on Thursday afternoon to grab some lunch. The restaurant has been renovated on the inside. It was clean and orderly and got the well deserved makeover it needed. I ordered the following: one empanada de pollo, one empanada de carne, arroz con gandules, and pernil asado for a grand total of $12.74. A price I haven’t paid for lunch in quite some time. The food itself is delicious, not to mention the portion size is more than enough for at least one meal. The rice was fluffy and the beans were full of flavor. The pork was just the right amount of salty and melted in my mouth. But the empanadas absolutely blew me away. They were completely stuffed and exploded with flavor every bite. Dare I say, the best empanadas in Monmouth County. Overall, for the price, quantity and quality of the food I'm thoroughly impressed with the Latin Diner. They certainly exceeded my expectations, and in my opinion, are even better than the previous restaurant. Not to mention, they accept credit cards and aren’t cash only. I hope the Latin Diner is here to stay! I will definitely be back to try more."
