"While the customer service and presentation of the meal was excellent, the “boil bag” was unbelievably salty. The only flavor was salt. The corn was salty, so it wasn’t even palatable. There were a few shrimp that were either bad or undercooked. I love to support a black owned business, but when you spend $40+ on food, I expect it to be worth it. Couldn’t get through the boil. The cashier recommended some chicken meals, but I’m pescatarian. Hopefully this was just a bad day. Disappointed."

"I had to take the time to leave a review for this restaurant. This is the second time I’ve had food catered from Cooks. We ordered lobster Mac and Cheese so creamy and cheesy, perfectly balanced yams, Hennessy wings with a kick, biscuits with a honey butter glaze, and collard greens. Everything was simply delicious and ready upon arrival. I appreciate the professionalism and consistency I receive from this restaurant. The banana pudding is delicious as well."

"New location is immaculate. Rebranded, and new menu. Food was amazing beyond belief. Definitely one of the best soul food in Jersey. Definitely a must try. Everything is cooked the same day and comes out fresh. Not just microwaved or heated up. Totally enjoyed the stuff salmon with crab, and the banana pudding is a must have."

"Nice take-out spot. The salmon platter was delicious. Rib platter was tender and so tasty . Honey biscuits were finger-licking good! Banana pudding was on point. Everything was great including the friendly service. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu ."

"I visited Cooks for lunch today with my sons. I’ve been going there for some time and I’ve never been disappointed with the things I’ve tried on the menu. The kids also love the food. I ordered crab stuffed salmon, Mac and cheese and the kids had the bacon burger, which was big enough for them to split and fries. We also ordered the wings and salmon sliders, which is a new item. The salmon in the sliders was so thick and juicy!. Everything was on point and the prices are in line with the quality and portion sizes. The service was also good. The main difference is that the menu has changed and the kids wanted the fried shrimp which was no longer on the menu. I definitely recommend Cooks and I’m looking forward to trying the new restaurant!"
