"I had very high hopes for this practice being a new PCP due to insurance needing referrals, but I ended up being shamed for having “many medical issues” and feeling the need to apologize. I am aware of all of my medical issues that I have had for years, and have NOT chosen to continue getting so sick, and should NEVER have to apologize for rare conditions and autoimmune disease. I then was told by the NP (after a week of leaving messages) that she could no longer treat me and I had to see a doctor, which I did, and I saw dr. Jackson, and had heard that he treats a myriad of diseases and conditions and is “compassionate and understanding “, but he was anything but that. I had MRI results showing many results so he could review them if he had any questions as to why I am on certain medications, but he didn’t even want to see them, and told me that they do not treat my conditions and they do not prescribe some of the medication I have been on for years! This is absolutely NOT true, the person who told me about this office gets treated for similar conditions, but WITHOUT ever having to provide any scan results or test results (which I had with me) and i was told because of the “area they served “ They limited certain medications, and quickly sent me away knowing that going even one day without my medication is potentially life threatening. I feel because I am not from “the area” or Richmond city and because I am not a “normal demographic patient” That they see, that I was completely dismissed and told to contact specialists, which is the reason I needed referrals to in the first place. I did not feel heard, and my medical issues were completely downplayed and totally dismissed and was NOT treated appropriately as an individual case as they “claim” To do. And now after suffering for weeks I finally talked to a nurse who gave the doctor a wrong message and resulted in a medication being called in that I CANNOT take and after telling them that my cough has prevented me from sleeping, the medication is known to keep you awake!! Unacceptable!!"
"I arrived on time, and she did not even say hello- she abruptly told me i was late. i filled out the paperwork online but she states it did not transfer over. I arrived at 2pm and didn't leave til 4. The front receptionist was aggressive, and the NP did not address my inquires. She was wearing flip flops. The most competent person there was the phlebotomist. I have been calling for my lab results and the phone just rings off the hook. This is the first and last time that I will be going there. I was shocked because it had good reviews."
"Office administrator and staff needs to work on professionalism and how to speak to patient especially when its regards to prior authorizations. It should not to take patients to come to the office to speak to some one because individuals don't want to answer the phone or do their job to care for patient needs and concerns."
"I travel for work and regularly have to find a doctor's office that can see me as a new patient in a couple week's time wherever I may be staying. It's hard to find an office these days that is accepting new patients at all, let alone scheduling an appointment within a couple weeks. Dominion Medical Associates, on Leigh Street specifically, had an opening the very next day from when I called. I was elated! Everyone from the receptionist, to the techs, to Sheeba, the nurse practitioner whom I saw were very friendly and personable, and called me in right at my appoinment time. I received excellent and very thorough care, including a brief interview and physical exam, followed by a routine blood workup, and to my pleasant surprise, an echocardiogram, which I had not had in many years so it was needed. Best part was it was all in the same building and all occured in one hour! I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for great care!"
