"Dr. Waaland is a professional who takes time to listen about my concerns with kids. She takes time with my kids and and she is very thorough. She's been a huge support with helping us advocate for our kids in the public school setting."
"BEWARE! Dr. Pam Waaland is the worst of the worst of all psychiatrists. If you are going through a separation or divorce please make sure that you’re spouses attorney doesn’t have any type of working relationship with Dr. Waaland. Also, please do an extensive google search of court cases involving Dr. Waaland as you will find a very biased approach towards her client and the associated attorney that she has been involved with cases in the past. As you can imagine, this can lead to what’s NOT in the best interest of your case. If you are the parent of the child that did not hire Dr. Waaland I would strongly suggest that you go into any/all meetings completely prepared to record the full meeting. The civil recordings that I had did in my meetings with Dr. Waaland did not reflect what she wrote down in her professional finding which were ultimately planned to be used in Discovery in Family Court associated with Divorce and Child visitation. Be prepared to be berated and looked down upon in these meetings and fully expect that she is planning to provide expert witness testimony in your case unless she has been made aware that the meetings have been recorded, then expect a threatening message from her that states if she is subpoena’d to court, only negative things will be said on your behalf. I would assume that Dr. Waaland takes a completely different approach when she’s not working with and/or associated with an attorney but I would not know because that was not my involvement with her in my situation. All of this is my opinion of actual events and you should heed this as a warning for any involvement with this “professional”."
"I would give this provider 0 stars if I could! I have a 9 year old family member who was supposed to be reunified with her mother. Dr. Waaland provided services for approximately 6 months with no progress toward reunification. She never interacted with the mother and refused to speak to her opting in favor of the dad who had custody and retained Dr. Waaland. Our family contacted other reunification specialists who all verified that Dr. Waaland was not a reunification specialist and the approach she was utilizing was not aligned to how family reunification is supposed to be conducted. Reunification involves all parties, parents and children, and in the least, separate sessions with family members until the family is able to progress to full reunification. Dr. Waaland refused to provide status reports on the child's progress despite there being a court order requiring them. The mother attempted to collaborate with Dr. Waaland, because she was under a court order that required her to do so. Dr. Waaland refused and eventually resigned from the case, with no progress, after 6 months of servicing the child, citing that the mother initiated contact to her which was unacceptable. How can reunification occur if refuse to speak with the mother? Coincidentally, Dr. Waaland’s resignation was aligned to the same timeframe the dad was relocating to another state and thus she could not have provided services. Dr. Waaland, despite refusing to update my family member or her counsel, instead opted to report only to the dad's counsel that the child, my family member, had a long way to go. Then what was Dr. Waaland doing for 6 whole MONTHS? After the child stop seeing Dr. Waaland, the 9 year old even created a video expressing that she wanted to see her mother. SAD!!! But it will be presented in court. The custody case is still in session, and my family member has secured experts ready to testify that Dr. Waaland is not a family reunification specialist and did not take the proper approach. My family member, the family, and I contacted licensing authorities in VA regarding Dr. Waaland, and following the closure of the custody hearing, me along with my entire family will be pooling our resources together to pursue legal proceedings against Dr. Pamela Waaland and her negligent actions. She supported a dad who only cares about not paying child support and retaining a yearly tax deduction. A dad who gave the child to other people to provide care for over the course of months for several years, until he had no choice but to keep the child. A dad who refused to put the child in therapy for years, despite a judge ordering him to do so. That is more a vengeful parent than one who cares about his child. And Dr. Waaland violated several court orders that were explicitly provided to her. I DO NOT recommend this provider. She is biased, neglect in providing services, her only loyalty will be to the parent that retained her services, and more importantly she is a danger to children not a help. She not only hurt the child but she hurt my family as a whole. Do not expose your family or children. There are much better providers elsewhere."
"We have been going to Dr. Waaland for several years. She is awesome. She's very through with her testing and her recommendations for children are spot on. She gives advice that is very useful as well as tools to use with your children that work. She has helped our family tremendously. I would highly recommend her."
"Amazing doctor. Very thorough in testing. This is who you need to take your child to to get tested. We would not be where we are today without her help and guidance. She has been pivotal in my son's and our parentening continuing success. We have been seeing her for about 5 years now and she is a must, especially when working with IEPs at school."
