"My dad was in the hospital for 3 weeks after completing his treatments. Dr. Miller’s personality is fine, but the coordination of care with the hospital is horrific, even though their computer systems are linked. My dad was admitted to a floor where every nurse said “We don’t treat patients like this”, messages to the doctor’s office were never returned, and Dr. Miller’s partners never once saw my Dad while he was out of town. It should not be up to the family to tell the unit clerk to please consult the oncologist when the patient was admitted directly from the oncologist’s office.There are about two dozen more care lapses but you get the point. No one should have suffered like my dad did. Asking for Standard of Care at Riverside hospital is like asking for peace in the Middle East. At some point it would have been nice to not explain the entire situation every Monday to the new Hospitalist and have some continuity of care. My Dad went from “Comfort Care” to leaving the hospital walking and talking. It wasn’t from the initial care he received. My Dad was fortunate to have two dedicated daughters that worked with him day and night. Not asking for miracles, just do the right thing and not the easiest or quickest thing."
