Hanging Rock Observatory Trailhead/Allegheny Trail

"Great hike. The day we went there were some low clouds, so the view was not great. It is a little strenuous. Up hill most of the way, but not a long hike. There are no restrooms. Small parking area, but large enough."

"We spent 90 min here. 3.8 km there n back feom parkinglot. We used walking sticks and wore regular sneakers. Not a hard trail. 7 yr old 10 yr old 30 something and 40 something did it. The view feom the top was amazing we packed snacks and drinks and hung out up top for 15 min b4 hiking back down."

"One of the shortest hikes for one of the best views in the area. The parking lot is already on top of the ridge. Just a 20-minute walk along the ridge to get to a 360-degree view. Also a must-see for birders."

"Absolutely gorgeous views, trail is short & easy enough for school-aged kids, shelter at the top has windows that open up to cool off in shade with a breeze. Surprisingly well maintained for a fairly remote location. Paint Bank nearby is a gem of a spot, but the only place to stop for miles for gas, snacks, or water. Not much else to do in the area. I wouldn't drive more than an hour for this hike."
