Reviews
"I grew up camping here. I am now 66 and I still love it. No place else like it in the world. Well, there probably I s but we love Sherwood."
"I was skeptical at all the great reviews about Lake Sherwood, but I agree! This place was great! The lake is nice and cool. The mountains are pretty. The campground has everything you'd need (no electric and water hook ups but we tent camped). The camp sites have tent pads, table, fire pit and lantern poles. Only thing I wish we had prepared for was how old the tables were (and brought a table cover)--they are woods, and they have that green slimy mold on them that wood gets from moisture, and they are soft. They have seen better days, so we just sat in our camp chairs, and we put a tub lid on the table so nothing got damp from the table. The lake bath house is really nice. We showered there every day once done at the lake. We rented SUPs, and we paddled the lake for 2 hours. We brought floats and sunned in the water. We brought chairs and sunned in the grass. We had a cooler (stores sells ice) and we had lunch under the trees in the shade each day. The little store has minimal supplies, but they have ice cold sodas, and we liked going in and getting Diet Cokes. It was kind of our little thing at the end of the day. The store takes cards, btw. No cash needed. It was just clean, simple, relaxing, easy fun. We WILL be back. 0 cell service, which was fine with us! We unplugged, and we relaxed for 3 nights. Next time we will bring our own SUPs and be more prepared for cooking--usually it rains on us every time we camp, but the weather was perfect and clear the whole time. We did have steaks, squash and mashed potatoes one night. BTW, it is very damp in the campground despite it not raining. The campground is very dense forest, and things are just wet. We didn't close our tent during the day, so when night came, it would get dew. Our fabrics stayed a little damp the whole time. Lesson learned to keep the tent always closed up. It cooled off enough that having windows open wasn't necessary. We went in early August--it was not hot at night."
"Really great place to camp. The only issue we had was no water, bathrooms, or power was available when we stayed there. Had to drive down to the beach to use their vault toilet since the ones at the camping area were locked."
"Hidden gem of a state park with easy mountain biking trails, kayak rentals, camping, day use area, and a beach. Small fee to enter. Totally worth it."
"We were very lucky to get to camp here on Saturday of labor day weekend. It was one of the best weekends we've had in a long time. Getting out on the water is a must. Anna May that works at the Kayak rental shop is very kinda and helpful. We hope to see her again next year. The pictures will explain the rest."
