Cranny Crow Overlook, Lost River SP, WV Mathias, WV 26812

"Haven’t hiked in a bit , this trail was easy to moderate. We’ll worth it. If you’re in the area it’s a must see."

"Steep. Lots of rocks and roots so be careful up and back. Also a horse trail so gotta watch for poo but it’s not horrible. Hike is well worth the view! We went from Howard’s lick trail, up the service road, to white oak trail and up. I’m one year post op from three heart surgeries so I’m building back endurance while showing my NC husband all the beauty of my home. The view is PERFECT to watch the sunset! Just bring headlamps or flashlights for the walk back down."

"At 3300 ft, the Cranny Crow Overlook is in a league of it's own. Outstanding panoramic views and on a clear day with good visibility you can see 5 counties of 2 states(VA, WV) The White Oaks trail starts at the stables, there is no designated parking but the park ranger said we could park by the road anywhere. The trail is a difficult but scenic one as you'd go uphill for almost the entire 2 miles (one way). West Virginia state parks are known to host many species of venomous snakes and this is no exception, my advise would be to wear full pants and proper hiking shoes covering the ankle."

"After nice hike around 2miles and you finally hit flat surface a short walk to overlook and it made it so worth the hike up if I'm back in area I'll do it again the views are breathtaking!!!"
