"Awesome beauty created by God. Stacked stone walls. Paved curvaceous drive. Trees of every color man cannot create with crayons. Mountains majestic breathing clean air. Open skies dotted with bird calls and babies cries. Families taking pictures. Well documented trails and gigantic campgrounds. Feel life feels good. #LetsGuide Shenandoah"
"This is trail heads of two trails. Buck ridge and buck hollow. The latter runs along a running stream. The buck ridge starts with some spectacular stairs. I ran into bucks, black bears and snakes. The trail head used to be a big colony of butterflies."
"The closest trail in the Shenandoahs for those coming from Culpeper, and no NP entrance fee. The Buck Ridge Trail to the left after the split from the Buck Hollow Trail is pretty steep with a lot of log steps, but I managed. Closer to the parking area and creek are some garlic mustard, mayapples, cleavers, etc. in April."
"Rating the parking not the trail. Parking is usually adequate through the winter but you'll want to arrive early to avoid disappointment in the summer and fail. Trail is a good workout but there is no pay off, vista wise, unless you link it into the short hike up to Marys Rock which involves crossing Skyline Drive."
"A wonderful couple reached out to me for an engagement session. First stop…Buck Ridge Trail. We didn’t go too far because their amazing old man furbaby had trouble walking (such a trooper that one) so we went as far as the small stream and took pictures around there before heading into the park great little spot to venture in to."
