"Beware Adina. I read an article recently about the pro and cons of therapy and it reminded me of my terrible encounter with Adina that still blows my mind to this day when I think about it. I saw Adina at a very low point in my life. I was trapped in the cycle of an abusive relationship and had an abortion a few months prior knowing that it was no situation to bring a child into. Anybody familiar with the cycle of abuse (any educated counselor) knows that it is not as simple as “just leave” when it comes to abusive relationships. I was at my weakest but I wanted out and I wanted to change so I sought therapy to kick start the process. It was around my third session with Adina when I was discussing my then situation in life that she seemed to become annoyed and impatient by it and in the rudest of tones said “what is it going to take for you to leave him? You already have a dead baby.” That was the end of that session and I never went back. Maybe she does not care to have patients with difficult problems like mine at that time and that is fine but politely say I don’t think I am the right therapist for you and I wish you luck or give another recommendation. What you don’t do is make the most insensitive of comments to someone who is dealing with the crushing grief and guilt of an abortion to the point of suicide ideation and then send them on there way. She knew how bad that was for me because I told her, and she still chose to make a comment like that."
