"I'm convinced Thriveworks Midlothian tried to scam me, and have reported them to their privacy officer and DHHS for potential HIPPA violations as well. Before this happened, I was a member of Thriveworks and saw someone different where I live (elsewhere in Virginia). I do not live in nor have I been to Midlothian before, but Anna Drummond in this office booked me for an appointment at 7pm on Monday 12/4. The problem was, she booked it at 3:16pm on Monday 12/4. Thriveworks has a super strict 48-hour cancellation policy (costs $135 for cancellations made less than 48 hours or no-shows), and since I have never been to Midlothian nor have I ever met Anna Drummond before, I couldn't easily contact her to cancel. I ended up getting her information from Thriveworks customer service, who admitted that since I had never requested to work with Anna Drummond she shouldn't have been able to see me in her files, and violated their policies by booking me in this way. This is what caused me to report her and Thriveworks as a whole to DHHS for HIPPA violations. However, I still can't believe a clinician who works for an agency with such strict and expensive 48-hour cancellation policies would ever think it wise to book someone with less than 4 hours notice. I'm still convinced I was being scammed and someone was hoping I wouldn't notice or would no-show the appointment and be charged. I highly recommend that you stay away from this practice and any other Thriveworks practices."
"Proceed with caution: I'm very unimpressed with the counselor we had! Multiple times during scheduling my stepson's first appt, I said that I was step mom, not once was I told to bring a copy of the custody order and then was told after waiting 15 mins past the appointment start time that it was needed to be able to do the intake process and we live 40+ minutes away. Zero updates during the visit to let me know they were running way over (45mins) and I was given very bad vibes for bringing my 4 year old to sit and wait with ME due to the time (4p) and to avoid picking him up late from daycare. We then had trouble finding a follow up appt date/time - no Friday availability; She didn't want to rotate days to work with Dad's schedule and wanted our son to be missing school. On Nov 20th I got a notification that our appointment for the 22nd is rescheduled for the 29th due to our counselor deciding to take time off (we scheduled this on the 16th) after a lengthy discussion about this being the day before Thanksgiving, and without notifying us first. After reaching out about that not working, she bounced the appt back to the 22nd. After talking with my husband, he said it's best to cancel because she won't be up to par because she doesn't want to be there. When I tried to cancel, I was told I would have a late cancellation fee due to it being less than 48 hours. After I disclosed a few other incidents that occurred during our first visit and her last minute rescheduling, they waived the fee. Our counselor also got really upset that documents weren't completed in the portal, however, she never uploaded them and then couldn't get them loaded at the end of the session and we had to use Gmail to exchange those documents. Sloppy is a nice way to describe this person for us. There is no way to check in to let your counselor know you are there. We had zero contact with her prior to the appointment to even include a check list of things to remember to bring or what to expect in coming in the building and waiting. There's a lot of room for improvement! We tried to schedule closer to home, and there are literally no counselors available. The CSRs I spoke to were absolutely amazing when I was scheduling and cancelling. You could tell over the phone they had a smile on their face and seemed to really want to help, which is why I'm giving 2 stars."
"April Fox is absolutely incredible and I could not recommend her more. Her ability to listen and pick up on what it is I am trying to say is so validating and unlike anything I’ve experienced before. She gives me new, useful tools that help me in my day to day, and for the first time in my life, I feel like I am becoming better thanks to her. She demonstrates a genuine love and passion for what she does, and I always leave our sessions feeling completely heard, understood, and motivated. April, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the work you do."
"Sarah Worthy is the best! I feel comfortable coming to her with my problems and knowing she will never judge me. She gives great advice and really takes time to learn about people so she can assist in the best way possible. She has amazing listening skills and I always know I’m being heard. She’s awesome!"
"I would recommend Kara Fulop to anyone! I truly cannot say enough positive things about her. Kara is warm and inviting and lets you share at your own pace. She keeps an open and unbiased mind and genuinely cares about you as a person. Not only does Kara truly listen to what you tell her you need, she intuitively senses and provides support for needs you may have not even recognized. Kara's personality is warm and genuine with just the right amount of humor and spunk to break up difficult moments. Whether you need practical strategies to implement, a sounding board, or you just need to vent out loud to someone, Kara is the therapist for you. Her adaptability makes her an incredible support for whatever you are going through, even if it changes over time. Kara is amazing at providing resources between sessions and always tries to be available for unscheduled support. She is extremely flexible with her appointment times, which makes sessions easy to schedule amidst busy lives (especially around kids' bed times, work, and other obligations). I could go on but the bottom line is that Kara is a top tier, phenomenal therapist who WILL make an incredible difference in your life!"
