"I found the Center for Discovery Mood and Anxiety to be a great place for mental health services and substance abuse treatment. They have been helping patients for over 20 years and specialize in treating mood and anxiety disorders. Patients can choose to stay at one of their estate-style homes or small outpatient centers."
"as a client who went here twice, i think i can make a valid description. staff are WONDERFUL even if there were 1 or 2 that were unprotected about their job. its a good program! but it's so... short. intended for 3 weeks, clients feel guilty or bad if they stay longer. punishments were unfair and i never felt like i learned anything helpful. i went there because i was suicidal, but daily group therapy about finances is cool too i guess. a lot of the sessions felt like filler until you convinced your therapist that you had grown. overall; an attempt was made, but they didn't execute their plan efficiently at all."
"Take this from someone who has awful anxiety and depression and went to this facility and got a lot of help out of it but parents just because this cfd is bad doesn’t mean they are all bad and it’s also a mix of how your child acts and your reaction to it. This place helped me a lot but there ups and downs but what else would expect, this is a mental health house for your child to get better and feel better the only way they will get better is if they tell the truth and share when something is going on or making them a little on edge, but it’s also the parent to know and be aware of how they feel and what’s happening from a perspective in their brain. I’m not trying to yell or call out any parents but this place is absolutely amazing actually it’s spectacular, I got very close to some clients as well as staff and my therapist had helped me with a lot of this improvement but he did say something that I will remeber forever, is that “I only gave you a push you got yourself to the top of mountain I just gave clues”. So if I were a parent I would bring my child here and tell them that it will be hard for them and the family but they need to get the help and know when enough is enough with depression and etc because it shouldn’t take over your life you should know how to teach it to sit. Thank you. A past client of cfd"
"Wonderful place! It's a home-like setting. Plenty of staff. A LOT of therapy! Kids aren't treated like prisoners. Shana Dee (therapist) is very warm and very direct at the same time. She keeps things focused. Which is great. We're often bounced from thought to thought with other counselors. I (as a parent) learned so much in just a few sessions! CFD has, truly, helped, from Shana and the rest of the staff. We had a few small hiccups, but VERY minor, especially when comparing to other places. They actually treat what they say they do and provide the services they say they will! That is verrrry rare, in my experience."
"We choose this facility for our daughter based on reviews of their other facilities in California. We we aware that it was a newish facility and that they were working with Anthem for in-network coverage. They were adamant that we pay upfront- which they eventually backed down from while Anthem considered her admission as a single case. Upon arrival, we were surprised at how disorganized and ill-prepared the majority of the staff was. Within a week's time, we discovered that nearly every medical service, therapy, and program offered and advertised was not "in place" and therefore unavailable. The site was understaffed and with only a combination director/therapist and one psychiatrist who came by once per week. Our daughter was discharged without any notice on a Friday afternoon by a very young man who was little more than a guard; with no plan of action or discharge papers, no meeting with her "team" and no follow up- with exception of a call seeking money a month later. The icing on the cake is that the Center was approved as a single case "in network" but waited over 6 months to file the claim- at which time the finger pointing between the Center and Anthem began and the claim not paid. All in all, it was a terrible experience for our entire family."
