1200 Semmes Apartments

"Moved to 1200 Semmes in 2020 under Dotti’s management and was pleased with the upkeep of the complex and maintenance so we decided to move into a larger unit in 2021. After we signed our new lease, Dotti left and there was a new property manager. The apartment we moved into constantly smelled like the sewer and months went by with maintenance requests (who were always great and responsive) and a resolution to the issue never came. Luckily (not), we didn’t have much longer to worry about the sewer smell as the apartment flooded due to a fire on the rooftop. Whole situation was a mess with how management responded; we ended up having to quickly move everything out and lived in a hotel until another apartment was ready, as we didn’t want to go through having to look for a new apartment. The apartment we moved into obviously didn’t have a walk through or was properly cleaned. There were dead bugs, roaches, marks in the apartment walls, and paint dust everywhere. We contacted management and their solution was to have a professional cleaner come in (which they should’ve done before move in) or give us credit. We chose the credit, as we had all our stuff moved into the apartment already, no hotel room, no storage room, a dog, and jobs we had to get back to. The credit was about $70. After moving out, we expected our full security deposit amount back, as we cleaned the apartment and left it in the condition as we received it (minus the roaches as we got rid of them), but we were charged $371 for painting and cleaning. Very frustrating as we sent the attached photos to management when we moved in."

"First of all let me say that 1200 Semmes Apartments has a an awesome building located in the Manchester part of Richmond. The leasing office staff was very helpful and answered all of my questions prior to touring. Kristine, a leasing office agent was very friendly to us and gave us a tour of the apartments nearly a day after we had called an inquired. Moreover, she was dedicated to answering all of our questions during our tour, and showed us where to get our packages, parking lot, gym, and much more. The application process was very smooth, and we got to sign the lease on the same week. If you're looking for a great apartment in the nicer part of Richmond, please call Kristine or any other of the leasing staff! :)"

"Let me start by saying this apartment is located in a great pet of Ole Manchester! The one bedroom we had faced towards the Richmond skyline and while we didn’t have a perfect view from our apartment the roof top deck made up for it!! Monroe Properties oversees the property and worked with us every step of the way, move in to move out! I would highly recommend this place and know we would go back in a second if we had the opportunity!"

"It has been a real pleasure to live at 1200 Semmes Ave apartment complex. The building is relatively new; it is clean with modern decors. The neighbors are respectful and it is a nice and peaceful place to live. Its best asset is the senior property manager, Dotti. She has been helpful and professional from the time I first contacted her to the time I informed her that I would be moving out. She has been very responsive. I am moving out because of personal reasons, otherwise, I could have seen this place be my home for a while"
