Genworth - Richmond

"I purchased LTCI from this organization when my father passed over 10 years ago, and thought that smooth sailing was ahead as I have paid my premiums. But recent events have me questioning this organization (and their backer AARP, which may be unaware of continuous due diligence): ONE, they alerted me that they had experienced a cybersecurity incident (from the sounds of it, and other instances associated with their cyber vendor, a low bidder). TWO, they then indicated that they were raising my rates in a recent notice. Both are terrible business strategies ...............but there is MORE ....... The day AFTER I posted my review, today, the New York Times printed another article in their series "Dying Broke" that focused on the LTCI "industry" -- "Why Long Term Care Falls Short for So Many". This great article illuminated for me some of the issues that I now am wondering about Genworth / AARP: near the beginning of the article is the important phrase "....For decades, the industry severely underestimated how many policyholders would use their coverage, how long they would live and how much their care would cost." -- I though that is the raison d'etre of the actuarial profession. Read the paperwork and have it evaluated before signing up!!"

"Absolutely PATHETIC Company and Customer Service!!! My mother moved and they claim her signature is fraudulent on the change of address form. They keep rejecting a notarized copy from the Credit Union claiming it is fraudulent too!!! She has had money in the account for over 20 years and now can't even get the address updated. Once we sort the address out, you better believe she will take every penny out of her annuity account!!! Pathetic, absurd, ignorant people...IF they ever answer the phone."
