"Please do your research before signing a lease. I was first interested in moving due to the pricing and the management (reason why I rate it two stars instead of one star). When speaking with office staff, they were extremely helpful and sweet. This place is also an affordable apartment but, atlas, it comes with cons. Firstly, and most importantly, there are roaches and other bugs in this unit. There was another review mentioning that they had no roach problem, so I was made to believe that the apartment complex that I moved into would be the same. It was not. My first week moving in, my boyfriend noticed one in the bathtub. I immediately contacted management and they were quick to schedule pest control. Pest control came out the first time when I wasn't home. I noticed a trap was laid out, but nothing was told to me. Not even a week later, we noticed that the problem was not solved, if anything, it got worse. I contacted management again online. They told me that pest control would come on Wednesday and they didn't. I contacted office management again in person, and this time they came out. Unfortunately, the only thing pest control did was spray some poison and told me the only preventative measure was to pour Draino and boiling water down the drain. They did not look into the source of the problem or tell me that the problem was trying to be resolved in my building. I am still having an issue to this day, and because of this, I will not be renewing my lease. I don't want to constantly look around my house, making sure there are no bugs in an apartment I am paying for. It's frustrating, embarrassing, and unsanitary. Secondly, I did not do a tour of my apartment. I tried, but maintenance was not allowing me to due to them still "renovating" the bathtub. The amenities are not as "luxurious" as they make it out to be. It's outdated and upon moving in, I noticed that a lot of stuff (walls, doors, shelves, etc.) was painted over. Not replaced, not cleaned, but simply painted over. There was a lot of paint chips coming off onto the floor. I also noticed that the bathtub they "renovated" had a stained footprint on the tub floor that would not come out regardless of how much I scrubbed with bleach. Thirdly, there was mold on the back door (as seen in the picture). This made me question if there was more mold in other places that was simply painted over. There are some pros (friendly workers, affordable living, quiet neighborhood), but the cons greatly outweigh the pros. Unless they fix their roach infestation problem, I do not recommend moving here."
"Deeding manor , is very good when it comes to maintenance they are also great with keeping up their grounds , landscaping, Everyone is very polite and friendly ,its a quiet caring community and I love it"
"We lived here for a year and had mostly positive experiences. The staff & management are great people and were very responsive and friendly. We had great interactions with them and they were very flexible with our move-out timeline while we were in contract for our house. However, the apartments are small, our neighbors were loud, and the heating/AC was very inefficient (high utility bills)."
"I lived in this apartment complex for 11 years, and for the money it was a great deal and an overall really good experience. It’s not fancy but it was clean—NO ROACHES—and mostly quiet. The location isn’t fantastic but I was comfortable living there and honestly wish I hadn’t left."
"My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at Deering Manor! I apartment shopped for months calling many complexes in the Richmond area while we were living in Idaho and Deering Manor had the best (most affordable) pricing, excellent customer service, and the quickest turn around in regards to inquires via phone/email above all other complexes I contacted. It says a lot about a company and complex when the management is on top of things and is kind in every correspondence with a potential tenant. I had many questions as my spouse and I were making a huge move across the country and wanted to ensure we had a place to live. Kelly, the apartment manager, and Carrie, the assistant manager, patiently answered all of my questions and concerns. They were confident and reassuring that they would find us a unit for the time-frame we needed once we filled out and passed the application process. Even with us moving from another state, Kelly and Carrie made our move-in the simplest and easiest process my husband and I have ever experienced within apartment living. Management here is always kind and compassionate towards tenants and respond quickly if ever issues arise with neighbors. We did unfortunately have problems with the neighbors above us however, management/maintenance took care of those issues and truly cared about our stay and did everything in their power to make things comfortable for us. Deering Manor has the best maintenance team I have ever dealt with. Maintenance responds quickly to issues and are always kind and courteous to residents. The complex is very family friendly and is in a safe location for Richmond. When in Idaho, we came from an 800sqft apartment and found we had more room at Deering Manor’s 650sqft apartment due to its generous closet space and space-saving floor plan. The only down side about this complex is that the walls are very thin. We took care of the place the entire year we were renters and I cleaned thoroughly and we were able to receive our entire security deposit back! We moved because we are starting a family and wanted to live in a townhome. We will forever be grateful for the management and maintenance team at Deering Manor that honestly felt like family and were always professional."
