"Both myself and my calm dog loved this place. We were going to use the outdoor pool, it is nice, but there was some lightning so they preferred us using the indoor pools. We got a half hour and at first my dog did not understand what an indoor pool was. It took some prodding. After a few balls she got the idea and dove like a champ. Outside there is a fenced in large area for them to go potty. It's best to take them here first. But I have a really good dog. We didn't think she needed to go as she went a half hour before. So after swimming for 24 minutes she was squirming so I cut my session by 5 minutes and she needed to go outside. Great place great dog. There are lovely wild chickens outside. So leash your dog. My dog does not chase animals ever, but I leashed her out of respect."
"We love taking our dog Goose here!! Before we came here a few months ago, Goose was afraid of water. Now she knows the phrase βdo you wanna go swimming?β. She loves it so much! All three pools are awesome and staff is always friendly."
"A delightful birthday treat for my dog. This facility is all about your dog. Very welcoming. The dedicated building and pools are only used by dogs. Our trainer, Jenn, was super sweet with our first-time swimmer. She made sure to engage him with play before getting a vest on. She then continued to gently move him toward the water and swimming. Within our half-hour session, he was swimming from one end to the other by himself and promoted himself to the next level pool! We've already booked our next session."
"My dogs love Paws to Swim! They love both the indoor facility and outdoor dock diving pool. The staff is wonderful and understands my nervous dog, so much so that she's actually getting comfortable around them. I love that there is a big fenced in yard they can run around in before or after a swim. We look forward to our weekly visits!"
"We moved to Richmond about 3 years ago. I remember calling the Patterson Ave (now closed) location inquiring about swimming for my little Italian Greyhound. Gaby answered the phone and I was instantly in love with her. She tried to persuade me to the current location as the pool was not as deep there. How could I go to that location when Gaby grew up with Italian Greyhounds? My dog had never swam and is not a "swimming" breed. My dog has a lot of energy and I just wanted her to try. Was it beautiful and graceful, no. was Gaby amazing, YES! When we started Gaby would swim with her. Even though Berkeley is so nervous Gaby was able to get her to swim. We have now moved to the current location and have progressed to the point that Berkeley will swim by herself. Now my version of swimming by herself is holding the leashing while she "swims." Berkeley will never be a lab and swim like Michael Phelps but she has gained confidence. Most people do not see the dogs that are not excellent swimmers but, they do exist. So, if you are on the fence about trying this with your pet give it a shot. If Berkeley (10lbs) can do it, you can too. PS: This is a family owned small business. Go support them!!"
