"I was referred to this practice by my former gynecologist, who was former colleagues with the staff at this facility. Unfortunately, I will no longer attend this facility as the ethical and unprofessional behavior of the staff causes concern for my direct care. The nurses’ staff is rude, lacks empathy, compassion, or concern for scheduled medication which requires consistency. Will happily return to VCU at Stony Point, as the extra drive is well worth it."

"This office provided sufficient prenatal care but has shown a horrifying lack of empathy for postpartum recovery. My child is on day 16 in the NICU with no end in sight after being born 5 weeks prematurely. My “recovery” from a 3rd csection has taken place in the chair of a hospital room and in my car as I shuttle back and forth between the NICU and my other two young children at home daily. I explained this situation in tears, pleading with the nurse practitioner to take all factors into consideration when it came to submitting paperwork for a completely unpaid maternity leave. I simply want time to recover properly and bond with my newborn in our own home before returning to work. The nurse actually held my desire to bond against me like it was a bad thing saying “It sounds like you just want time home with the baby.” Then went on to further minimize my concerns by saying “ Standard recovery is 8 weeks. Women have babies in the NICU all the time. It doesn’t matter if you recover in your bed or in a hospital chair. I have other patients waiting and I’m not going to spend my time arguing with you.” This office is too understaffed and overworked to take a holistic approach to care. Feels like you are just another patient irritating them."

"I wonder why are you guys billing me. The Doctor gaslighted me two appointments and did nothing so my insurance wouldn’t cover the visit probably because nothing was done…. So why are you billing me you did nothing but but hold me one minute and let me go actuality the one sentence could have been said over the phone This place a JOKE"

"It has been a few years since my last appointment with Dr. Brown and this practice as a whole, but with good reason. I believed that I could simply move on, but cannot in good conscience without making it publicly known how detrimental my care was. I had been being seen by Dr. Brown for quite some time, with the main goal of getting my very heavy and debilitating menstruation under control- I had excruciating pain with an irregular period, so bad that I would often have to miss classes during college due to being unable to /move/. While I was receptive to trying different birth control pills and methods, I would also bring up the possibility of an underlying condition, such as ovarian cysts, fibroids, PCOS, or endometriosis (due to familial history with such problems). As time went on, I became even more sure that I was experiencing symptoms of endometriosis, and would ask constantly about seeing what could be done to even /start/ to check for it. Unfortunately, Dr. Brown seemed to dismiss it, until what was to be our final appointment together. Around the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, despite my being extremely scared of catching it, I made an appointment at the practice due to increasing burning and pain in my lower abdomen. When I brought up endometriosis again, however, Dr. Brown very clearly asked me, "Why do you /want/ endometriosis?" I was appalled, and quite frankly, hurt to the verge of tears, and retracted my statement, going through the rest of the appointment, and finding a new practice when I got home. It took even longer to find one I felt comfortable sharing my concerns with, but was finally listened to at my current practice, and they found that not only did I have Stage IV/ Deep Infiltrated endometriosis, but that I had a 6cm endometrioma that had to be removed right away, or else it would have burst. I apologize for such a long review, but I cannot overstate how important it is that one finds care from a practitioner that will /listen/ to a patient's concerns. I also feel indignant that I could have avoided possible years of extreme pain if I had simply been taken seriously."

"We started coming here when my nationally recognized gynecological oncologist failed to diagnose pre-cancerous cells in my daughter after she had two bad pap smears. The first person you see is Dee at the front desk. She is always amazing, sweet and kind. Dr. Brown is one of the hardest working doctors I've ever known but still takes time to explain things and answer questions. She quickly diagnosed my daughter and performed the surgery. Now my daughter is pregnant with her 1st child and continues to receive great care from everyone here including Dr. Brown, Bethanie Kelley, the ultrasound and lab technicians and of course Dee, who we always look forward to seeing. I know that like many places, they've recently had trouble with staffing but they work hard to keep things running smoothly. It's such a relief to know that my daughter and granddaughter are in such kind and competent hands."
