MedStar Health: Spine Center at Chevy Chase

"If I could give 0 stars I would this is the most unorganized medical office I have ever been too as the patient you are expected to the do work to make sure all the paper work is in order when in all actuality the staff should be able to handle the information and insurance paper work....to be told the day of your appointment that you need to file new claims and have insurance information instead of insuring this is done weeks or days before your appointment worse i over heard another patient say it was a workers comp claim and it wasn't an issue so I wonder what the problem was with me?? The differential treatment of people of color in the health care system is astronomical!!!! I truly understand why so many people don't go to doctors or just give up the only reason they got the one star was because of the very nice young man who works the desk there he's always nice and takes care of what ever you need."

"I had neck surgery by Dr. Sandhu. He and P.A. Elizabeth and the rest of his team have been extremely polite, knowledgeable, informative and thorough in their treatment of me. They have taken the time to talk to me about all aspects of my diagnosis, treatment options, the surgery, post-op, and future considerations and treatment. The team has contacted me quickly for app’ts, physical therapy, and x-ray orders as needed. I highly recommend Dr Sandhu as a surgeon. This goes for his team in Chevy Chase and his team in Clinton, MD, as I have been seen in both offices. There was a video online showing how Dr. Sandhu interacts with patients, which helped me choose him in the first place."

"I would give this a 3 star only because my appt was at 3:15pm and I didn’t get to be seen until 4:45pm I then had to pay the difference of $9.00 parking because I was there for more than 2 hrs. Only reason why I keep coming is because my physician is that good and knowledgeable but wish there’s a better way to stop making patients wait so long."

"I’ve unfortunately been dealing with lumbar back issues since 2011 and have been treated under Medstar care since 2013. I’ve always had positive experiences with MedStar Spine and I think they’re one of, if not, the best in the area. The Spine Center in Chevy Chase opened in 2015 and largely I’ve found it to be a great facility. The biggest benefits have been ease of/shorter duration to see physicians, putting orthopedics, neurosurgery, pain management, and rehabilitation under one roof (a blessing when you’re dealing with limited mobility), and modern, new facilities. I’ve had positive experiences with Dr. Numsuwan, Dr. Kalantar, Dr. Sandhu, and Dr. Heckman as well as all of their respective support staff. My only major complaint is wait time. If I could give the facility a 4.5 I would (but not for the quality of care). I’ve never had an on time appointment which is frustrating when you’re sitting with back pain. To be fair, I sincerely believe they’re working on it - as they’ve been following up with questionnaires and trying to update you on timing when you arrive. It’s gotten better over the last year and hopefully it continues to improve."

"I was visiting this practice for first time. The front office was efficient. I was referred by Med Star Prompt Care located on ground floor of the building so had no idea what to expect. I liked Dr Ferguson very much as he took the time to explain my condition as well as xrays which were taken in their office. He laid out a course of action and made himself readily available if I needed his services in the future. I am very much concerned about cleanliness in a medical facility and found their waiting area and dr’s office exceptionally clean.i had a favorable experience."
