"The guy working there thought it funny that anyone would believe the Waltons were based on real family. This is not a hotel."
"Went in here to see what they had to get souvenir for my trip to walton mountain, only had a few things I had purchase but the clerk behind the counter didn't have a personality or even acted like he wanted people to come in it felt very unwelcoming"
"Drove 200 miles one way to get The Waltons experiance!! Pull into the store & parked...as we get to the steps the owner comes out and pulls a closed ribbon across the porch does not say a word & slams the door & locks it...Very disappointing!!!"
"This was my 2nd time visiting from Delaware and my husband and I both enjoy all the Walton nostalgia and memorabilia the General Store had to offer. We are big Walton fans. Great merchandise and great prices. I purchased the Olivia applesauce cake recipe and I’ll be baking very soon. We stayed at the John & Olivia B&B which is a three- minute walk from the store. Highly recommend the accommodations and the Walton’s Mountain General Store."
"During a recent road trip I thought it would be a lot of fun to drive 50 miles out of the way for a side trip to visit "The Real Walton's Mountain". The museum was closed for the season but the website indicated the store and home tour were open. On my first attempt, I arrived just after opening time and there had been a snowstorm so everything was snowed in. I reluctantly accepted my bad timing and resolved to try back on my return trip, 50 miles or so out of the way again. This time I arrived around 3:30, and shop was supposed to close up around 4pm. Snow was not a factor, but everything was closed up. Seeing someone through a window my husband shouted "I just want to buy a book!" and a man came out to tell us no, they are closed. He wheedled that their hours say open and we drove 200 miles out of our way (total round trip) to come here, but the man barely wanted to look us in the face so we left. Apparently if you want to visit, you better call ahead. 200 miles of wear and tear on my spine in the car later only got me a few pictures of the outsides of the building... Including the sign that says "Tours Until 4pm""
