Reviews
"December 3, 2023 I would like to sincerely express my gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Lake Taylor Transitional Hospital for the unwavering care and support given to Tarita Ball. I especially want to acknowledge the exemplary level of care provided by Nicole Green and Sandra Kearney, who have contributed hours of selfless nurturing and compassionate consideration to my loved one. The words Thank You cannot begin to convey the gratefulness I feel when I think about how you both made a very difficult situation more endurable by going above and beyond to ensure that her health and well-being are a priority. Your attention to detail and your dedication to your craft has proven to be invaluable in Tarita’s progress and continuous recovery efforts. I will forever remember our stint at Lake Taylor and the nurses and staff that worked tirelessly to aide in her healing process. Sincerely, Terry Fulcher"
"Lake Taylor TCH was incredibly neglectful and even abusive towards my 80+ year old mother. Following major surgery, she was admitted to this transitional unit for round-the-clock care. On her very first night there, she was subjected to a distressing and invasive experience. She was forced to strip naked and lie on a bed without even a sheet to cover herself, while a man was brought into the room to “inspect” her. I spoke with the unit manager, who confirmed that they perform a “skin test” upon arrival, but even she agreed that the process should have been explained to my mother beforehand. Moreover, we had been with my mother for most of the day she was admitted, and no one mentioned anything to us either. It is unnecessary for a patient to be completely nude if it makes them uncomfortable. My mother still suffers from nightmares as a result of this traumatic incident. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning of her ordeal. The hospital staff displayed further negligence by refusing to respond to her calls for assistance with using the bathroom. They also disregarded her medication times and even insisted that she take less than the prescribed dosage, despite lacking the qualifications to make such decisions. This contradicted the instructions given by her surgeon and physical therapists. One night, when a so-called “nurse” finally entered her room to administer medication, my mother simply asked for something she needed. This seemingly harmless request triggered a shocking tantrum from the “nurse,” who yelled at my mother, stormed out of the room, and slammed the sliding door so forcefully that it sounded as if it had broken. When my mother called me, crying, my husband and I hurried to be there before they closed, begging her to come home with us that night, but she had been informed that leaving without completing paperwork might result in Adult Protective Services being contacted. She felt threatened by this and wouldn't leave, so we agreed to get her the next day. The following morning, while she awaited the person needed to complete the discharge paperwork, another staff member entered her room and stood over her, staring her down. The woman refused to identify herself or explain her presence. When she left, my mother managed to get out of the chair and use her walker to follow her out the door. It turned out that the woman was pushing a cart with water on it, but she callously denied my mother any water. After hours with no honest answers about the person “on their way” to complete the discharge papers, it became clear that no one intended to assist with discharging her. A doctor was “found” to sign off on the paperwork only after my sister took matters into her own hands, and despite the challenges of juggling our own full-time jobs and families, we became my mother's transitional care team. We feel fortunate that we could do this - some have no choice. I have read the other disturbing reviews, and I can only hope that if certain staff members at Lake Taylor ever find themselves in need of help in their old age, may they never experience the horrors they have imposed on others. However, it is clear that they are completely unfit for their positions and have tarnished their profession. They not only deserve to lose their jobs, but they should also have their nursing licenses revoked. Shame on them. I teach nurses and have family members who are medical professions. I’m familiar with various levels of care, including transitional care facilities. Although the building is stunning and the physical therapists are worthy of praise, it doesn't compensate for the mistreatment and lack of care towards the most vulnerable. The unit manager, as I noted earlier, has spoken with me and plans to address these issues. Hopefully, she will be successful in preventing such horrific experiences in the future by refusing to accept such low standards and despicable behavior. Until then, if you have older loved ones there and can't place them elsewhere, please check on them daily."
"My mother was here from August 15 -September 2, 2023. We were met out front with a wheelchair and a cart to put all her personal items on which was great because we did not have to make a bunch of trips. Then they did a full review of her medications and looked at her entire body (checking for existing sores or areas of concern). We were introduced to her care team and were provided a package with all the information necessary for her stay. Room: She stayed in room 30 in the Azalea section. The room was clean and spacious with a private bathroom. Amenities: Bed was comfortable and adjustable. Walker and wheelchair were provided. TV was Cox and had many options for programming. They provided all the toiletries, linens, and towels. There are outdoor walking paths with benches and chairs. We were wishing that they had tables and chairs outside for playing games. Nurses and PT employees were cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. Food was hot and tasty There are common areas with TV, tables and chairs, puzzles and games as well a machine with ice, water, apple and orange juice and a microwave. LakeTaylor Rehabilitation place treated my 92 year old mother with respect and wonderful care."
"Lake Taylor Transitional Hospital is the most amazing facility for post acute care. The staff are all capable and display the ultimate level of professionalism. The CNA’s were responsive to this patient’s needs and encouraged me to assume function as I advanced in my therapy and could perform more of the routine ADL’s. The Nursing Staff maintained a professional level but also developed relationships with me that encouraged my progress. However above all the staff I want to compliment, the PT and OT staff. I looked forward each day to visit the gym. The staff encouraged and pushed me to achieve new heights in my development. I never left the gym feeling discourage. Even if I did not achieve the goal I set for myself I was always rewarded with a good job and there is another day. Upon discharge I reached goals I did not think possible upon admission to Lake Taylor and that was all possible to the PT and OT staff. If you need rehab and have the opportunity to be admitted to Lake Taylor jump at the choice. You will not be disappointed. The OT .and PT staff are outstanding. I want to thank one and all for the care, encouragement and kindness. You will never be forgotten. From the person who delivered my meals, to the housekeeping staff who kept the facility spotless, nursing staff, management I met and, and of course not to be forgotten the OT and PT staff I am forever thankful to each of you. My achievements are due to your efforts in advancing my care and supporting me along the way."
"My mom has been here a little over a week. She has become too ill for me to care for her so I feel guilty enough. She has not had a bowel movement in almost 2 weeks. When she finally felt the urge to go I rang the bell. That was at 1110 am. It is currently 1225 pm. I have spoken with 3 different people and no one has come. She doesn't want me to say anything because she said they may treat her badly when I leave. I was told this is one of the best in the area. We treat prison inmates better than the elderly. I am heartbroken."
