"What daycare KICKS a 4 year old child OUT for Potty training accidents?? Skipwith Academy @ Pebble Creek does NOT live up to Skipwith Academy's Philosophy & Mission statement which reads, "Committed to supporting families and children in the communities we serve. We provide a variety of options for learning, not only based on the age of the child, but also his or her prior learning, maturity, and developmental stage. Our curriculum is based on a learning plan for meeting the emotional, physical, social, and cognitive needs of children using developmentally appropriate practices in a supportive environment." My child was enrolled here for 2 years & 9 months. While the majority of our time here was pleasant we did experience 2 major incidents. Within the first 3 months of enrollment my child was lost on a separate playground at 19 months old for 40+ minutes & his teachers didn't even realize he was missing until he was brought to them by another teacher that found him outside alone. Then less than 3 months after my child was moved into the preschool room we get a letter stating the center is kicking us out due to potty training accidents. He just turned 4 years old & within the 3 month time frame only had a total of 12 accidents! Potty Training accidents is not listed as a grounds for termination of services in their parent handbook either, nor is stated that they are a private center that reserves the right to refuse services to anyone at any given time. However, we are grateful for the few teachers/staff members that were present during his time there & showed him love & support."
"Please pay attention to the most recent positive comment about the director. It’s a parent who puts positive comments up to hide the bad ones and to get their ratings up she close with the director. I actually did enjoy taking my kids here until management switched. Now it’s a continued problem, and I am in the process of taking my kid out. The director always has an attitude when I ask her a question about my child! Just go in there for a tour. If you have good judgment, you can see directly through her, or you can ask parents during pick-up how the director is; they’ll tell you the same thing. I’m actually surprised she hasn’t gotten fired yet. She does a lot of under-the-table stuff. This company as a whole needs to get it together and pick better people."
"My children have been coming here for years, and I gotta say I’m real shocked at a few reviews. I love and trust the staff and my children bond with all of them as well. The director Natalie Williams is a kind and sweet woman with the best intentions for all the kids. She was there as assistant director when my kids were babies and we were so excited to see her come back! We love skipwith at pebble creek and I wouldn’t feel comfortable taking my kids anywhere else."
"This daycare can’t keep staff, underpays their staff, and replaces old management with even worse management. The director and assistant director "try" to pick with their staff, but little do they know that when people quit, the management job gets harder. They also harass their staff when someone quits; they’ll keep asking current staff what new job they work at. That alone tells you they are bothered, immature, and obsessed. With people, I think they got picked on back in their days going to school. They're old and tired and can’t run a building. I do not recommend working here until it has at least new management, and parents, if you bring your child here except for incident reports and to have anyone work with your child, the director can’t answer simple questions, never knows the answer to nothing, and the assistant director is just as clueless and slow as she wants to be and talks bad about her own director to staff, saying, "I don’t know why the director just don’t shut down the daycare" because she hates being stuck in the baby room. Nah be a "Team player" like I had to be only reason she didn’t up and leave yet is because she want to sit up front and watch her daughter."
"One of the worst daycare experiences I’ve encountered! The director was a joke she only worried about her own child. The director also talked about the employees behind their back. My 8 year daughter heard the director was calling an employee fat and making fun of the employee while around the school age kids. The center was never cleaned as it should be my kids had never been sick before attending this center and as soon as my daughter started at this daycare she became ill with hand foot and mouth! And my son who was only 7 months had a seizure and was hospitalized for 4 days! When my son was in the infant classes they would let him cry all day without comforting him! His old sister would have to go get him from his classroom when she arrived from elementary school since he would cry all day! As soon as I discovered this I took my kids out of the daycare immediately! They can never keep employees they would always quit! I have had workers tell me how terrible the daycare and how they weren’t caring for my infant. They never had any good festivals for the kids. The one they had while we attended the center only thing they had was a bouncy house! And when my daughter graduated from preK they didn’t have cap and gowns like my experience with my older daughter previous school! And the food after was disgusting!! Please take my advice and avoid this school!! Also I hated that all school age from Kindergarten to 5 was in the same class! Kindergarten needs to be in their own classroom they still babies"
