"The Virgina house has been known for many years as the Orkney Springs Hotel. It is a beautiful pre-civil war structure that has three floors. The dining rooms are huge and the ball rooms are elegant. The church doesn't mention this hotel's history but it has been a landmark in this area for over 150 years and was used as a hospital during the civil war. Originally owned by the Basye family who actually were land granted the entire valley where Shrinemont and Bryce Resort now stand."
