"Cancelled our appointment the morning of after we drove from north Carolina, got a hotel and took time off of work."
"I’m currently a patient at VCU. I’ve had other surgeries in different hospitals throughout the state. The after care I am receiving from the nursing staff is unmatched. Normally I have a nurse or two that seem to just be there for a paycheck. Not here, I feel like a every nurse that works here is here bc they want to be. I feel like they care. Clean/sterile room. The nutrition department can use an improvement. Food is okay but the process of ordering and getting the food has been very stressful and frustrating. But overall. I would recommend VCU for your families general medical and surgical needs."
"I had a full hip replacement at VCU with Dr. Golladay. He and his team provided excellent care. Further, the nursing staff (Stephen, Maggie, Nicki, and Chandler) were responsive, caring and skilled. And the food was good. I know, it's hospital food, but it really was good."
"I was here yesterday for my dads surgery. After all day of being there and taking bathroom breaks. None of the bathrooms I went to had paper towels!!! Both bathrooms at the Pre OP of gateway were dirty. Saw a janitor that kept talking to someone near the bathroom and thought she would be cleaning them soon. I went back in there later to wash my hands and they were still dirty! No paper towels. Even the bathroom on the gateway surgery floor had no paper towels! Ridiculous. Hospital bathrooms and areas around should always be constantly cleaned to keep down germs."
"Most importantly my dads surgery went great and I felt the doctors and nurses were attentive, caring and knowledgeable. Katie and Leah and all the nurses in the ICU were heaven sent and we had complete faith in them. Stephen and Morgan on the 10th floor were also amazing! THANK YOU ! I have to say the ladies working at the desk closest to the attached parking garage are the most discouraging rude human beings on planet earth. I know they have to deal with a lot but dang ! Not everyone is a criminal trying to break into a hospital. They need to be reminded that people are there because they are probably dealing with some really difficult stuff . A little kindness goes a long way ! There was one lady at that desk that spoke to me with kindness and I definitely let her know how appreciative I was of her ! I wish I got her name but she was there today 8.11 this morning. And the security guard heard the conversation and agreed 100% that she is the sweetest lady at that desk! Long story long, I'm happy my dad made it through this with flying colors and I'm grateful for VCU."
