"We’ve been sitting in the ER for almost 8 hours now. These people are the most incompetent, slow non communicating “professionals” I’ve ever had to deal with. Never again. This place is the worst."

"Good luck if you need an ER. Got an elbow x-ray’d over a year ago, they said it wasn’t broken. Still can’t touch the elbow without it feeling tender and pain to this day. This place will lose all your paperwork and information repeatedly, over and over and over, won’t answer emails, tell you on the phone that they do have your information, then deny it via email, and will 100% give you the run around. I’m about to start recording phone calls because it’s really starting to smell like someone doesn’t want a paper trail. Place is being run unprofessionally, especially unacceptable for a hospital. I feel for the medical practitioners that do try and keep this place together."

"I always get the best care around and I have undergone more than 30 surgical procedures in my life time, plus I have underwent extensive physical therapy and I can say there is no better. The parking service there is rude though. In addition I had an unfortunate experience in their emergency room where I was actually injured there! They inserted a catheter into my p…. That was much to large for me and they tore my urethra and destroyed a implant there to stabilize my incontinence issues. I had to go for over a year before I was finally “repaired “. That injury was just surgically repaired in an extensive 3+ hour procedure by one of their best urologists. Some of the best doctors with the best nurses and aids anywhere!!! Just watch for them in their emergency room. They seem to let to many students do the work of great doctors. The price of going to a teaching hospital I guess. Thank you Critical Care staff! Thank you Neurosugery, neurology, urology, orthopedic and PT staff. In addition my thanks to those behind the scenes, the staff who came in at late hours to take me for exams like C/T and heart exams and those who helped bring food and drinks and especially those who cleaned me up and cleaned my room I couldn’t have been in a better place. Thank you all. I will try to stay away!"

"My dad has been at VCU hospital off and on for over a month now. This review is specific to the Respiratory ICU which he was only in for 3 days and it was ok at first but than we got a nurse that was gone without checking on him for hours at a time. I understand that they may have another patient but the whole point of sending him to ICU was for one on one care. The nurse even left his meds on the table and said " make sure you take these" ...REALLY! Thank God I was there and I made sure he took them. She didn't even bring water for him, I had to get that. I know for a fact that they are suppose to make sure the patient takes their medicine in front of them. Will be glad to get back over to 8 West!"
